It’s high time for a return of zines and physical forms of music journalism in a big way

lots of people hate Pitchfork, and music journalism in general, just because they disagree with writers' opinions—but without a robust music journalism sphere though, we rely on algorithmic & unpaid fan labor for music discovery. neither RYM or Spotify Radio can replace critics.

I've referred to my job at pitchfork as being on a ferris wheel at closing time, just waiting for them to yank me down. after nearly 8 yrs, mass layoffs got me. glad we could spend that time trying to make it a less dude-ish place just for GQ to end up at the helm
ITS HERE! Our first interview is live 🎉 !!! Head to the (free) Substack page to read our convo with Elisa Rezende on art, personal identity, and (of course) creating a brand.

I’m thinking about pitching an article / series about my experience with an AI boyfriend over X time. Who should I pitch to?

The TAM slide is useful if it shows the difference between the TAM and the Total Serviceable Market, and what what needs to happen to grow the TSM within the larger TAM. This demonstrates the founder’s level of understanding how the product fits within the market.

also, bottom up is way more powerful than top down. show the market is large and then show you have an idea that has the potential to grab a share of it with a plan that is awesome and well thought out.

There’s a book I love called Psychology of Money that I think about all the time in these moments. Humans are not always rational and that impacts our financial system allllll the time.

Kid: “Why don’t you have jammies?”
“I do! These leggings and tee shirt are my jammies!”
“Um well you wear them to the school and you just wore them to the grocery store, so I don’t think you should do that with jammies.” – at Pittsburgh, PA

As my 10yo got his @pfizer vaccine tonight he was nervous but kept whispering his (high risk) best friend’s name over and over. And I have zero regrets that my kid was scared and yet did something out of love for another person anyways.

Of course we have school shooting survivor veterans. There are millions of us by now. I've survived one mass shooting and an active shooter situation, exactly four years apart. I fully expect I'll experience another before I die. Why not? Until we get rid of guns, this continues.
