Byeeeeeeee! I'm following my employer's example and jumping ship. I'm MacKeza elsewhere. For a long while I was reluctant to do this, because it felt like letting Musk and co win. But I'm done with the illusion that anything I post here matters and there are better ways to resist

Super Nintendo is kind of my life's work so far. In my 2 decades as a games journalist I have interviewed so many of Nintendo's creatives, and in 30 years as a player I have played 100s of its games. I'm confident you'll learn something new about Nintendo from this book
I'll keep the account for occasional journalism/contact purposes but I won't be using it any more ✌️

So depressed that the "bent packs have rare cards!" rumour in Pokémon TCG Pocket turned out to be bogus. I wanted to believe. As a little treat. Just let me waste my life examining virtual card packs for bent corners, as a temporary reprieve from the horrors
Got to write about my other obsession this week: languages. Literary and video game translators weigh in on the state of AI translation theguardian.com/books/2024/n…
Has anyone found an effective counter to that very annoying Gardevoir/Mewtwo Ex deck that apparently 90% of all Pokémon TCG Pocket players are currently running? So bored of being repeatedly Psydrived out of existence after three turns

we spun up seven trillion ancestor simulations to predict the next president. uncountable souls lived and died in artificial worlds. the result is 50:50
Just watched The Remarkable Life of Ibelin and oh my goodness, I'm a mess. Such a moving film about the virtual lives we lead and about how we wish to be understood. Bring tissues, I started crying about three minutes in and didn't stop
I am looking for people with thoughts on AI translation for video games - not just professional translators but also fan translators and developers with experience of releasing games in different languages. If that's you, send me an email! firstname.lastname@theguardian.com
