The day is not far when people will realise that Right Wing and Hinduism and not synonym. Just because you see one shade in a person doesn’t automatically qualify him for the others. So this expectation is flawed by default. We’ve gladly accepted this overlap because it somehow worked in India and made labelling easy, for both sides. A political ideology and religious beliefs are Oil and Water. Church and state - the term exists for a reason. Not that they cannot work together, but they aren’t two sides of same coin, as is often projected here. The defenders of Hinduism, in this Kalyug will fight tooth and nail to preserve our culture, religion and heritage. A right winger may easily be an atheist, even if Hindu by birth. Both can love India from their heart, in their own way. It’s the newly minted nationalists and Hindus that have caused this confusion because they’ve forced these lenses on everyone. Just to prove and justify their limited understanding, which is as appalling in political literacy as abysmal it is in our religion. Colour coded dressing, garish and loud props, and cosmetic improvements are the sole weapons of these self proclaimed knights. If there are errors in movie from scriptures point of view, it’s those close to religion who will get offended and raise voice. Right wing, a political thought and practice, may not be worried that much. As true supporter of free markets and economic growth, and nationalist to the core, a right winger will be happy if the movie does well because it’s earning revenue and tax for nation. Nothing more than that should concern him. And he could be from any religion. But as we see the conflation, the issues become complicated. Lines are drawn and it’s easy to point fingers because the mix runs too deep and too frequent. The overlap is so heavy that distinction is near impossible. Someone failing on one parameter is taken as a failure on the other too. I’ll only say, be clear who you are. Don’t get swayed by false flags of religion under any political party and don’t confuse the flag of our Lord and King Shri Ram with political messaging. Learn to keep them separate and you’ll have a much clear world view. Like the movie, hate the movie, but let that be your choice. Not because someone paid you to promote it or you have a made up identity to present and protect. @dharmadispatch
