South Australia was struck by more than 65,000 lightning strikes overnight, as a thunderous storm left more than 10,000 households without power at 6am this morning. @SAPowerNetworks will be responding to outages throughout the day. Presently, 66 outages continue to affect just under 8,000 homes across the state. Heavy downpours of up to 25mm also hit areas of SA, prompting a call to the @SA_SES every three minutes between 3:30am to 4:30am. The Bureau of Meteorology has advised most of the activity has moved east, but stormy conditions should still be expected in the Adelaide area in the early afternoon.

Fully vaccinated interstate visitors might not be allowed into SA for Christmas without having to quarantine, despite Premier’s comments. @indaily indaily.com.au/news/2021/10/…

Australia has moved into a La Nina 'watch' phase - there's now a 50% chance of it developing over the coming weeks - and that would bring us a wetter spring/summer, with cooler days and warmer nights

Big dust storms happening north of Adelaide - a good chance they'll drift towards the city this afternoon. Not the sort of weather we'd expect during May! @10NewsFirstAdl
Huge dust storm en route to Port Augusta. I think it will hit #Adelaide soon. @ChelseaCarey_9 @katefreebairn
