KAS New York and @ioevoice hosted a high-level roundtable on private-sector engagement, UN reform, and the new ILO Convention No. 193 on decent work in the platform economy. #onlineKAS #KAS4Innovation
The Convention offers a strong example of multilateralism in action: governments, employers, and workers reaching agreement on a fast-changing issue through the ILO’s tripartite model.
From Oct. 12–15, KAS New York welcomed parliamentarians from Armenia, Greece, and Uruguay for a four-day dialogue on how national priorities connect with global governance. #onlineKAS #KAS4Democracy
The exchange also brought in perspectives from the parliamentarians’ own countries, highlighting how small- and medium-sized states can shape multilateralism through institutions, coalition-building, and active diplomacy.
@kas_ny welcomed Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Chairwoman of @KASonline, for a dialogue program from October 4-5 exploring the challenges facing the multilateral system & transatlantic relationship in an era of transition
🙏 Thank you to USG Izumi Nakamitsu @UN_Disarmament, USG Guy Ryder, Amb. Ricklef Beutin @GermanyUN, @SCRtweets, @c4unwn, @LAMUN_BRA, & @PHMissionNY for the insightful exchanges
The Chairwoman capped off her visit with a discussion & reception, co-organized by @ACG_USA, celebrating 150 years of #KonradAdenauer and reflecting on how Germany can address the polycrisis & ruptured transatlantic relationship
On September 15, @kas_ny convened a breakfast roundtable on “The Situation in #Afghanistan and Way Forward: Five Years After the Taliban’s Return to Power” with stakeholders from across the #UN, Member States, think tanks, academia & civil society
Thank you to Amb. Youssof Ghafoorzai & Dr. Erica Gaston @UNUCPR for their insightful remarks on strengthening #UNAMA’s political mandate & international engagement on Afghanistan, as well as to Stephanie Fillion @EnvoyUNEMAG for her moderation
At this five-year mark & ahead of the #SecurityCouncil quarterly briefing on #Afghanistan, the roundtable provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the country’s ongoing crisis & practical steps to regain momentum towards a credible, inclusive & Afghan-led political process
🙏 Thank you to @GRUN_NY for their partnership & collaboration on last Wednesday’s workshop with Member States highlighting "Humanitarian Concerns of the Maritime Security Agenda"—the second in our series on strengthening the #UN's role in #maritimesecurity governance.
Our thanks as well to Stella Aber of @Seafarers_KGFS and RocĂo Joo of @GlobalFishWatch for shedding light on crew abandonment and forced labor at sea—and to all the Member State delegates who joined the discussion.
Ahead of tomorrow’s #UNSC straw poll on UN Secretary-General candidates, we’re revisiting key questions raised in our joint policy brief w/ @infoCEPEI on “The Race for the Next UN Secretary-General: Regional Aspirations and Global Realities”
🇺🇳 What leadership qualities are needed in the next Sec-Gen? Will a candidate from #LAC be appointed, in keeping with the regional rotation tradition? What is the likelihood of a “Trojan Horse” entering the fray?
