🎁 That's a wrap. Not just on the presidential campaign, but also my next book. I just sent it off to my editor at @simonschuster. 80,000+ words. Some wrap up work to come in the next few weeks and then months of editing pre-sale and then marketing. Tentative on-sale date: 9/9/25
Colleges have lended their name to political polling for marketing purposes but if the quality of the poll is bad, does it still help?

In today's newsletter, I argue this is the sweet spot for the DSA. DSA members are *very* college-educated (80% BA+) but *not* particularly well-off (45% HHI incomes below $60K). Their class status is ambiguous. But they tend to be very liberal on culture as well as economics.

"The other teams that I met with did not have a presentation as organized as the Nationals did...it really did stand out."
C'mon Mark Lerner. Nats up 2-0 against one of the best pitchers in baseball. Yet 26 blown saves for the team halfway through season. Open up that checkbook and be a buyer.
Bascially every sport. Moved from local/rec/varsity to clubs. There's less development using multiple sports and more focus on the superstars early on, some of whom burn out early. If you're a GenXer, think about how many multi-sport athletes you knew in HS compared to your kids now.
One big US soccer thought: our youth development has to get more affordable. One of my kids plays travel. It’s at least $5k a year & this isn’t even super high end. We can afford it, thankfully, lots can’t. Youth sports costs in the US are out of control, soccer more than most.

The actual problem is that MLS academies are really only interested in siphoning money from RICH parents with the promise that their kids will succeed in the sport while ignoring kids from less affluent families with more talented kids but with less disposable income.

Higher ed is being asked to do more with less. What if constraints aren’t just a problem to manage, but actually the starting point for innovation?
TODAY, I’m talking with author of the new New York Times bestseller, "Inside the Box," @DavidEpstein. A fascinating book with a counterintuitive thesis about why limits can sharpen strategy and actually unlock creativity.

"Applications to the five dozen campuses that accept <20% of applicants have skyrocketed, from 800K two decades ago to >2.35 million. This is why the admissions process feels so much more competitive to parents who went to college in the ’80s and ’90s." theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…
