The bank called Sarah at 9:03 on a Monday morning and told her she had $8.4 million in her account.
She laughed.
Then she checked.
The money was really there.
Sarah had been struggling for months. She had barely enough to pay her rent, so seeing that number on her screen made her hands shake.
She immediately called the bank.
“There’s been a mistake,” she said.
The woman on the phone went quiet.
