banks aren't cutting jobs because of ai. they're cutting jobs they wanted gone years ago and ai is the cover. i worked in them. whole teams on half days, untouched, because headcount was something you boasted about. now cutting it is the boast.

Banks have been doing this for years. Ai has little to do with this. A algorithm could have replaced tied wealth advice. They started closing branches way before chatGPT. Most people have fundamentally over interpreted this move.

The fact that Cofnas is investigated by Ghent University for breaking the story about Arday's plagiarism points to what I have written here before - academics live in fear that if they say something which might be construed as 'ism' or 'phobia', they lose their jobs.
