Hind Rajab was afraid of the dark. After killing her family & wounding her, Israel prevented her rescue & left her to die alone in the dark. I write about those critical hours & the film that brings back her voice to induct the world’s silence @newlinesmag

If it makes you feel better to frame it that way Jake but it is in fact a picture I took of poppies blooming on top of a massacre site at the erased Palestinian village of Burayr about ten miles east of the Gaza Strip fence. You can find it on pre 1948 maps if you want to check and you can find Burayr survivors/descendants in Jabaliya refugee camp, tho it will be hard as that too is now erased.
Jason Alexander says he feared visiting Palestine as a Jew until 10 Palestinians protected him during an Israeli army raid in Ramallah
“How much of a risk would I be taking as an American Jew walking into Palestinian cities? And Mohammed said, ‘The greatest dishonor that could happen to a religious Muslim is to allow harm to come to an invited guest’”
“And he said, ‘Jason, if they had to, they’ll take a bullet for you.’ And what was so interesting about that trip is, we were having lunch in Ramallah with a bunch of actors and artists at a sort of outdoor restaurant”
“And the Israeli army was conducting a raid on a bank that they thought had terrorist ties a couple blocks away. And they must have, to announce themselves, just shot into the air. And I remember 10 of those guys at the table surrounding me. And I went, ‘Oh my God, he wasn’t kidding. They’re not going to let me get hurt’”

Weird to read this as I am on a plane flying back from Sudan after spending days sitting in IDP camps talking to people about how this “new” US approach to humanitarian aid is working out.
Rubio’s claim is “unequivocally” garbage.
Let me share some of what I heard:

El idiota de Bolsonaro Jr se escribió "corrupto" en la mano para picantearlo a Lula en el debate y ahora todos los brasileños se escriben su propia ocupación y suben la foto. ES EL CANDIDATO MÁS PELOTUDO DE LA HISTORIA 😂

I'm in the West Bank this week as part of the “Protect the Harvest” coalition along with @israelispeaceny, @ucpinpalestine & Protect the Harvest, which is bringing people together from around the world to help Palestinian farmers harvest olives in the face of state-sanctioned settler terrorism.
Our goals for the trip are to help protect the olive harvest — and to shed a light on the reality of the occupation. To ensure that international solidarity goes beyond the harvest, to become a sustained commitment to protecting Palestinian communities from settler violence, forced displacement, and the ongoing threats to their right to remain on their land.
And, speedily and in our day, to secure human rights, safety, equality & freedom for both Palestinians and Israelis.
Thankfully, our corner of today's harvest was peaceful and successful. But violence unfortunately is never far away.
We’ll keep you posted on our efforts this week, especially the stories we hear from Palestinians on the ground. Protect the Harvest.

"The reason I keep bringing up the Palestinians throwing rocks to protect Heidi is because, I mean, I can’t emphasize enough how much these young men are . . . Yesterday, they put their lives on the line. There were soldiers there, and soldiers will shoot when somebody is throwing rocks. These young men put their lives on the line to protect a sixty-three-year-old Jewish American journalist. And, I mean, these guys are heroes. If they were not doing that, so many villages would’ve been overtaken. They are literally the only defense. [On Saturday] I was in a village called Jalud, and the exact same thing happened. We got attacked by settlers, and it was these young men, whom we call the shabab, who fought them back with rocks. And the reason I just want to put a fine point on this is because, for me, just in terms of where things are going with Israel-Palestine politically, I think that a sort of discursive shift in how we talk about Palestinians’ right to defend themselves needs to happen." @infinite_jaz to @IChotiner

This has to be some of the most desperate rearguard action I've seen. They want you to ignore the evidence of your eyes and see a scene differently than how every normal person saw it.
1. His tone. He's snarky and angry and lacking in grace. He's an easily ruffled pit bull of a man. He's not a man in full. He's not a man with much ego strength. He's weak, and his tone -- the petulance, the meanness -- is unbecoming of a United States senator, and in times past candidates would have been embarrassed to address a potential constituent this way.
2. His dishonesty. Tommy, who raises a good question but does a poor job on the follow up, didn't ask this question because El-Sayed is Muslim. He asked this question because El-Sayed has family, starting with his mother, affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed wants to turn this into race, and that should make voters wary. Race is the province of the stupid and the guilty and the politically unimaginative. It is what you resort to when you have no cards left to play.
It looks like instructions came from above. Every Bari Weiss minion is now on it. xitter.cf/rupasubramanya/status/…
The gaslighting here by @AbdulElSayed is out of this world. He's asked a simple question: whether he disavows the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a terrorist organization. He says yes, then spends three minutes accusing the questioner of anti Muslim prejudice. If you're dumb, like the folks mindlessly cheering on El-Sayed, you'd think the questioner is the bad guy based on this interaction.

Iman Dashti who made headlines and Fox News Coverage confirmed he was paid $200 from Bobby Jindall’s Dark Money Group America Next to generate bad press for Abdul El-Sayed. This was through a post in the Michigan College Republicans group.
Tommy from yesterday’s clip with Abdul is—guess what—the son of Bobby Jindall’s CoS Tim Teepell AND works for his dad’s company, Breakthrough LLC, which was paid $250K by—no other than—America Next explicitly to oppose Abdul El Sayed in the Senate.
Everything is stupid Watergate.
