Tracy Northrup's slide on a roadmap for levitated nanoparticles leaves me feeling again the urge to toot my supervisor #RayChiao's horn, recalling his wild ideas from 15 years ago about levitated "Millikan oil drops" & probes of #QuantumGravity: arxiv.org/abs/gr-qc/0610146 @icap2022

The last day of #ICAP2022 starts with our Cooling Beyond Atoms session. Tracy Northup from @uniinnsbruck is speaking about cooking nanoparticules in ion traps. Tracy also answered our questions in a blog earlier last month; check it out here medium.com/@ICAP2022/tracy-n…

The last talk of the day comes from Vladan Vuletic (@MIT), speaking about a time-reversal-based measurement behind the standard quantum limit (SQL). This is in the context of an experiment with Yb atoms which shows an improvement of 12 dB beyond the SQL. #ICAP2022

Starting off our Metrology Session is Norman Yao from @UCBerkeley, presenting a Landau theory for spin squeezing. #ICAP2022

The last special just-for-Twitter lunch recommendation: super-great vegetarian and vegan food at Fresh (326 Bloor St W). 7 minute walk west from the conference venue! #IACP2022 goo.gl/maps/91yCEDM94wZs7suK…

It's amazing the abilities folks've developed to simulate gauge theories with cold atoms, but for someone like me (ignorant of most of these theories, let alone what the open q's are), some results come back to what I recall from the earliest gauge-field sim's: [1/3] @icap2022

Changing it up a bit: we’re back to non-equilibrium dynamics to wrap up our first session of the day. André Eckardt from TU Berlin is speaking about quantum-Hall states for neutral particles & Floquet-heating ind. non-equilibrium Bose condensation in excited states. #ICAP2022
