Thank you to MP @WillWJGreaves for meeting with us during Hotels Canada’s Investment Day on the Hill.
We shared the perspective of hotel leaders on what it takes to attract investment to Canadian destinations, including Victoria. Creating the right conditions for investment is essential to encouraging new hotel development and ensuring existing properties continue to grow and modernize.
Thank you for making time to hear from hotel leaders.

International visitors are an export opportunity for Canada. To welcome more of them, we need the hotel capacity to meet demand.
We met with MP @HelenaKonanz to discuss how competitive tax policy can support hotel construction, renovation and reinvestment in communities across Similkameen—South Okanagan—West Kootenay and throughout Canada.
Canadian hotel investors are comparing projects here with opportunities in the United States, and 46% have invested or considered investing south of the border in the past two years. Keeping that investment in Canada means more hotel capacity, local jobs, and visitor spending in our communities.
Thank you for the discussion, MP Konanz.

In destinations like the Canadian Rockies, hotels are essential infrastructure for the visitor economy. Building and renewing that infrastructure takes substantial private investment.
We appreciated the opportunity to meet with MP @Will_Stevenson and explain why Canada’s investment rules need to work for hotel projects in destination communities. When capital can move more easily into construction and renovation, those communities are better positioned to welcome visitors and sustain local jobs.

And they’re off! Our members gathered on Parliament Hill this morning before heading into meetings with MPs and government officials for Hotels Canada’s Investment Day on the Hill.
We’re bringing the perspective of hotel owners, operators and investors to Ottawa with a clear message: Canadian capital is ready to build, but more competitive investment conditions are needed to build new hotels, renovations and reinvestment.
Follow along today as our members share their perspectives with Parliamentarians and policy makers.

Canada’s hotel and tourism leaders are in Ottawa with a shared purpose: to help shape the conditions for our industry to grow.
Today, Hotels Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada opened our joint Advocacy Forum, bringing members together from across the country. @TIAC_AITC's Sebastien Benedict and @hotelassoc’s Adrienne Foster welcomed the room and set the stage for two days of action.
Our members know firsthand what it takes to invest, operate and welcome visitors. This week, their experience will help bring tourism’s priorities to life on Parliament Hill.

The federal Productivity Mega Deduction has the potential to strengthen the business case for hotel development, renovation, and reinvestment by expanding immediate expensing for capital investments. We look forward to assessing the details & sharing more in days ahead. #cdnpoli
Great conversation with @YasirNaqviCDN on the role hotels play in communities like Ottawa and across Canada. We highlighted tourism as a key export: international visitors spend $31B+ annually, driving growth nationwide. Looking forward to continuing the conversation. #HotelsCAN
