Last night we hosted the brilliant Rory Sutherland for an intimate Helm dinner — and it was electric. ⚡️ From behavioural science to creative advantage, Rory delivered the kind of insights that instantly rewire how you think about consumers, marketing & innovation. Chatham House Rule means we can’t share the “wow moments” — but trust us, there were plenty. 🙏 Huge thanks to @rorysutherland and to our members for an unforgettable night. This is what Helm is all about.

M&S boss @MachinStuart1 is 100% right. British businesses are being weighed down by an ever-growing burden of taxation, regulation and rising costs. This is exactly why we launched Helm’s #StopTheCreep campaign. You cannot tax and regulate your way to economic growth. Give businesses the freedom and confidence to invest, hire and grow. mol.im/a/16197765

1/ Chancellor John Healey says he wants growth and wealth creation. Yet Chris Rokos, who paid around £330m in UK tax last year, is leaving Britain. You don’t grow an economy by driving away the people who invest, build businesses and pay the taxes. news.uk.cityam.com/story/245…

You can’t tax your way to growth. Britain’s businesses need lower costs, less red tape and a government that sees them as partners, not cash machines. I've written about how the pressure needs to be urgently removed from business to unlock growth locally and nationally 👇 politics.co.uk/mp-comment/20… @helm_club @AndreasAdamides

Labour support among business founders has collapsed from 19 per cent to 0 per cent in recent internal polls 📉 Four out of five founders surveyed are calling for a reversal of the National Insurance increase to boost enterprise confidence. I joined City AM's Business As Usual podcast to discuss founder confidence, why so few founders see the Prime Minister as pro-business, and what the Government needs to do now to change that.

It almost doesn't matter whether an exit tax happens. The damage is already being done. Every new tax rumour creates more uncertainty. Founders delay decisions, investors hesitate, and more entrepreneurs start asking whether they should build elsewhere. The UK doesn't need constant speculation. It needs certainty. Confidence attracts investment. Uncertainty drives it away. I spoke with Samuel Norman of the @CityAM about the rumours of an exit tax.

I spoke with @elitebizmag about Keir Starmer's resignation and on what comes next. My view: stop treating businesses like a tax machine. Growth comes from backing founders to invest, hire and scale; not taxing ambition out of the UK. #ScaleUps #UKBusiness elitebusinessmagazine.co.uk/…

Today we launched Stop the Creep. Britain is one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world. But the steady creep of taxes on founders and scaling businesses risks driving growth elsewhere. Alongside founders, business leaders and parliamentarians, we're calling on the Government to back those building and growing businesses in the UK. Read and sign the open letter: helmclub.co/stop-the-creep

Hosting @TerrySzuplat , Obama’s former speechwriter, last night was a powerful reminder of how much communication really matters. What struck me wasn’t just how good he is… It’s how intentional he is about every word. He gave a masterclass unpacking how great leaders actually land their message, and why most people completely miss the mark. Then we continued the conversation over drinks with a group of @helm_club founders and CEOs. That’s where the real insights come out. Grateful to bring people like this into the room at Helm. Not many places you get this level of access.

Most “founder events” are a complete waste of time. Last night wasn’t. We had Obama’s former speechwriter, @TerrySzuplat , in a private room with scale-up founders & CEOs.

Then it opened up. Drinks. Real conversations. 1:1 time with someone who’s shaped messages at the very top. That’s where the value actually is.

Great leaders don’t just communicate ideas. They create connection. On Monday, Terry Szuplat, Barack Obama’s speechwriter and bestselling author of Say It Well, joins Helm members to share how words shape trust, action, and leadership. A private room. 60 founders. Members only. → helmclub.co
