Is there one AI model that’s best at every kind of software engineering? Our results say no. Different models outperform others on different kinds of work. That’s what our new benchmark is built to measure, and today we’re proud to share it with everyone! HackerRank-Bench is a long-horizon benchmark that tests 15 frontier models across complete software systems - from understanding a codebase to building, modifying, and verifying behavior. It shows us which models lead on each type of engineering work, and where they still fall short. Read the full report here: hackerrank.com/bench/report?…

Over these 4 editions, HackerRank Orchestrate has gone from strength to strength, growing both, in size and the quality of participation 🥳 Here's what we've learnt about how developers are building with AI: which tools they pick, how they use them, and what separates the strongest builders from the rest.

Everyone wants more compute. But as @cerebras puts it, if you’re actually building the compute, the bottleneck isn’t infrastructure, but people. This is how they’re hiring AI-native engineers, and why they trust us to help them do it:

We spent 10 years helping companies screen developers with take-home tests. But with AI, anyone can ace a take-home. So we rebuilt the stack. Meet the new hiring process.

The circular economy of talent in AI might be the best I've ever seen. > Anthropic has 55 engineers who came from OpenAI > OpenAI has 14 from Anthropic > Stripe is Anthropic's third-biggest feeder with 98 engineers > 71 of DeepMind alumni now build at OpenAI, 23 at xAI > xAI is a taker. It took 19 from OpenAI, and 23 from DeepMind

Developers today don't write code, they orchestrate agents. And when you’re hiring engineers at a company shaping the future of generative media, figuring out who can actually work well with AI becomes a very important problem. That’s something Harpreet and her team at Adobe think about every day. And here’s why they’re partnering with HackerRank to make that shift.

When a candidate enters HackerRank’s Agentic Development Environment, they do not have to jump straight into code. With Plan Mode, they can use the AI Assistant to understand a problem, explore the existing codebase, and create a plan for the task before they write any code. This reduces unnecessary rework. Candidates can correct misunderstandings or adjust their approach before any code is generated. For hiring teams, this gives a deeper read on AI fluency: how candidates understand the problem, what questions they ask, and how they use AI to decide on an approach to build.

We don't make candidates do any LeetCode in our hiring. A candidate just shared their experience with Chakra, our agentic interviewer. It spent 60 minutes with them on: > Fixing a broken production system > Measuring real user impact > Weighing system trade-offs Anyone can memorize syntax. Engineers should be evaluated on real-world judgment and how they work with AI.
