Forty-two swimmers in seven teams will set off from Cyberport to relay swim 45 kilometres around Hong Kong Island on November 16 as part of a HK$4 million fundraiser for the Splash Foundation. The charity teaches disadvantaged communities to swim. “Fifty years ago, swimming around Hong Kong Island was a feat only one person had achieved. Thanks to the government’s efforts to clean up Hong Kong’s harbour, it’s now becoming one of the world’s iconic marathon swims, alongside Manhattan Island and the English Channel. This year, 42 swimmers will do it together so that 2,000 more people can learn to swim,” said Simon Holliday, co-Founder of Splash Foundation, in a Friday press relase.
