Bassett’s boys cross country team came away with their sixth straight Piedmont District XC Title last week. Bassett Thomas Fulcher 18:04.13 led the way. On the girls side Bassett finished as PD runners up and were led by Vanessa Medrano 7th at 24:55.43.

Bassett competed in the Randy Smith Classic on 10-1-26 at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, Virginia. Overall BHS had two runners in the top 10 with Thomas Fulcher leading the way with the overall win in 15:52.68. This time ranks 10th All-Time for the Randy Smith Classic.

Congratulations to Nyasia Herndon from the BHS Class of 2026! Nyasia will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Lynchburg University in the fall. She will compete in indoor and outdoor tack and sprints/jumps. Congratulations Nyasia! #ProudToBeHCPS #StudentAthletes

The BHS outdoor track team’s 4 x 800 meter relay won its event and also broke the school record today at the Knights Track Classic at Cave Spring High School with a time of 8.25.12. Team members are Colin Turner, Thomas Fulcher, Gio Saligan, and Marquez Duvernay

Congrats Bassett High School’s Thomas Fulcher for earning All-State honors and a medal for his 10th place finish (16.07.1) at the VHSL Class 3 State XC Championship meet at Green Hill Park in Salem. As a junior, this meet is the third time Fulcher has qualified for the state meet

The Boys Bassett High School XC team was the overall winner of the Greater Danville Metros Thursday at Angler’s Park. Thomas Fulcher was the first place overall medalist and Gio Saligan (3rd) David Berent (10th place), Preston Draper (11th), and Colin Turner (12th) w/7 PRs

Congratulations to Thomas Fulcher on breaking the Bassett High School 5K record that was set on November 11, 1978 by Sebastian Hairston. Fulcher ran 15:48.30 and placed 8th overall at the Fast Times Invitational on Saturday at Green Hill Park in Salem.  GO BENGALS!!!

Congratulations to Isaiah Perkins who will continue to play basketball at Patrick Henry Community College next year.

Congratulations to Isaiah Perkins on reaching the 1000 points scored mark in his high school career. This is the first Bengal on the boys team to reach this mark in nearly 20 years.
