Today, I ordered flags to fly at half-staff across the Commonwealth to honor the memory of Norfolk native U.S. Army Major Bianca C. Wilkerson. She served as the G4 supply and services chief with U.S. Army Central and Third Army at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. Outside of her service, she was known as a light in her family — always helping others, including the animals she loved and volunteered to support. I offer my deepest condolences to the Wilkerson family and all who are grieving her during this difficult time.
As the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress are threatening healthcare, we secured $150 million in our budget to help lower Virginians' healthcare premiums.
Eligible Virginians can expect to see up to hundreds of dollars in savings on their marketplace insurance premiums — and for 50,000 Virginians, they could see premiums as low as $0.

On Monday, we hosted a Fall Harvest Celebration at the Executive Mansion. I was honored to have so many winemakers, grape growers, apple growers, seafood producers, and many other members of our Virginia agriculture community join us.
HAPPENING NOW:
I'm in Norfolk to talk about the changes to the health insurance marketplace we are seeing this year ahead of open enrollment, which starts on November 1.

If state regulators are going to consider a merger that will benefit shareholders of two multi-billion dollar corporations, then I am calling for:
✅ a six-year freeze on rate hikes Virginians
✅ tripling monthly bill credits for ratepayers
✅ more commitments to lower energy costs and meet our long-term clean energy goals

Congratulations to Susan Schaar who is retiring after more than five decades of service to the Senate of Virginia! As Clerk, she became a beacon for leadership, steadfastness, decorum, bipartisanship, and respect. She devoted more than half a century to public service and through her championing of the Virginia Women's Monument on Capitol Square, she also helped ensure that we remember the service of other Virginia women. I wish her a wonderful retirement! Thank you Clerk Schaar for your service to the Commonwealth and being an inspiration to so many Virginians!
As Governor, I will continue to advocate aggressively on behalf of Virginians over the coming months as the SCC considers the merger between NextEra and Dominion.
I remain deeply skeptical that the proposed $67 billion merger, as currently structured, will adequately protect consumers and deliver meaningful public benefits.
Without enforceable commitments that meaningfully prioritize ratepayers, lower energy costs, protect Virginia’s utility workforce, and advance Virginia’s energy goals, the State Corporation Commission should reject this merger.

Any proposed merger involving Virginia’s primary state-regulated utility must benefit families, small businesses, and Virginia’s workforce — not just the shareholders of these multi-billion-dollar corporations.
As such, I am calling for a six-year rate freeze to Virginians’ base electricity rates, a tripling the monthly bill credits for ratepayers over four years, and additional commitments to lower energy costs and meet our long-term clean and homegrown energy goals if the State Corporation Commission is to approve this merger.

Rising fuel costs are hitting Virginia's farmers, loggers, and haulers — and having ripple effects on our supply chains.
That's why I have signed a temporary waiver to allow dyed diesel fuel on public roads to help ease the financial burden on Virginians.

Virginia’s rural communities are vital to our Commonwealth’s economy, culture, and future.
I am proud to have brought people together at the Governor's Summit on Rural Prosperity: from local leaders to small business owners, to nonprofit organizations. Through these important conversations, we can make sure that Virginia is doing all it can to empower our rural communities.

Rural health is about more than healthcare. It is about whether families can thrive, businesses can grow, students can succeed, and communities can prosper.
Today I visited the Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital to hear directly from rural health care leaders, providers, employees, and community partners about the opportunities and challenges facing rural health care in the Rockbridge region.
Today, I hosted the Governor’s Summit on Rural Prosperity because the future of our entire economy depends on the success of rural Virginia.
Thank you to the many leaders who joined me to discuss how we can invest in rural Virginia’s communities, create opportunities for the workforce, and strengthen infrastructure.
On behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia, welcome back to Blacksburg, Dr. Linton. I wish you every success as you begin this exciting new chapter in Virginia Tech’s history. news.vt.edu/articles/2026/10…
Transportation touches every citizen of Virginia every day.
Our investments in transit and rail — through state-supported Amtrak service, the Virginia Breeze, and our contributions to WMATA and much more — are providing affordable transportation choices and enhancing mobility for all Virginians. We’re taking a fresh look at our safety investments to reduce accidents on our roadways and keep the Commonwealth moving safely.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Governor's Transportation Conference to engage in this important conversation to keep moving Virginia forward.

"Do you miss being a kid?"
One of the students at Glen Lea Elementary asked me this thoughtful question when I visited their class last week.
