I’ve gotta hold some kind of record for colonoscopy mentions across podcasts.
On the latest Aboard Podcast, @goldman has a friendly reminder: "If you had a Blogspot, it is time to get your colonoscopy." For more helpful tips, check out the whole episode: buff.ly/MiRhbnv

The tools have only been very very good for 7 months, a tiny fraction of people have used them for anything real, and no one know anything about the people who run the companies. Diffusion across multiple vector is slower than those in the bubble perceive. The likelihood of someone’s first formative impression of AI being driven by a weird event is v high.
In this recent Politico poll, 28% of Americans polled think that Dario Amodei is a Republican (compared with 20% who think he is a Democrat - the rest say they don't know). This is the exact same percent as for Jensen Huang.

Lots of people telling another company how they should spend their money.
notice how they always have to stay in control god forbid you fucking just airdrop 5% on the public, no, they have to be able to monetize their own stock while determining how to spend it on things deemed by them as "benefits"

I encourage people to watch the video and hear for themselves that El-Sayed says he “absolutely” denounces the Muslim Brotherhood, and goes on to explain that he supports the Constitution. What’s more newsworthy is a CBS reporter trafficking in bigoted disinformation.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

He says the name just fine when he’s begging the Qataris for a personal jet or the Saudis for funding for his son-in-law’s private equity firm. Wonder what’s changed?
Trump on El-Sayed: "His name is actually Abduladadalalalala. It's Adulbabababababa Mohammed Al-Sayed. So his middle name is Mohammed. So I was right. He's a jihadist."

Don't know if Trump or associates asked Zuckerberg to disrupt No Kings; or if he saw it as a chance to curry favor with Trump; or if he so believes in Trumpist authoritarianism that he decided to help out. But it's urgent to stop this from happening again--e.g., on election day.

Meta took down the No Kings organizing page today - the biggest day of protest this fall. They provided zero explanation. It stayed down for the entire afternoon until most of the protests were done. Outrageous. Put this on the January investigation list.

Silicon Valley keeps making bets that Democratic memories are short while Republican ones are long, and that a few sponsored events and convention donations will get them right back on track with Dems when we take over again. I don’t think that’s a very smart bet.
When accounts post, share or comment at very high frequencies it can trigger automated systems. That's what happened with the No Kings IG account in the lead up to today's day of action. Unfortunately, that automated action was clearly taken in error. Everything is now working as it should and we sincerely apologize.

Clip is two years old. Bens really been about that ai pilled life for a while
Ben Affleck says the day will come when someone can order up an episode of Succession with a plot they have in mind. He says that could create an extra revenue stream to replace lost DVD revenue. Affleck says AI isn’t going to end the film and TV business, but certain parts of the industry will be dramatically affected: “I wouldn’t like to be in the visual effects business. They’re in trouble because what costs a lot of money is now gonna cost a lot less….And maybe it shouldn’t take a thousand people to render something.” But he says the cost savings will mean more television programming, not less: “You might be able to get two seasons of House of the Dragon in a year instead of one.”

The White House and/or @elonmusk are deliberately making it harder for Ukraine to intercept Russian drones at a time when Putin has been increasing attacks on civilian targets like bus stations. Truly evil behavior.
Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."
