You can own your account, your keys, and your social graph. But what happens when the app you use changes the rules overnight? The Farcaster controversy is raising an important question for decentralized social platforms: Who actually controls your ability to communicate? Because decentralization should mean more than just owning your identity.
farcaster sold to network school and they *instantly* terminated my access for having said mean things to bots

if there’s an extra component inside your hardware wallet, what reference do you have to spot it? with Keycard Shell, you have a published reference for what should be inside Firmware. Circuit schematics. PCB layouts. Component lists. Case designs. here’s the hardware behind it: β€’ main board with STM32H573 (ARM Cortex-M33) microcontroller (PSA Level 3 / SESIP3 certified) β€’ 240Γ—320 TFT IPS color LCD screen β€’ heavy-duty silicone keypad (numeric + OK/C) β€’ ISO 7816 smartcard reader module (contact only) β€’ CMOS global-shutter camera for QR codes β€’ replaceable Nokia BL-4C 800 mAh battery β€’ clear ABS case, with public 3D design files so you can print your own the clear case lets you see parts of the board without taking the device apart the back cover slides off without tools to access and replace the battery

The irony of a Discord β€œprotection” bot exposing the very data it collected to protect users. Double Counter collected user IDs, usernames, IP addresses and location data to catch alt accounts. Now millions of those records are reportedly exposed. You can’t leak data you never collected.
We're aware of a security incident involving Double Counter, a third-party bot developer. We've confirmed Discord's systems were not breached. We are preventing new server installs of Double Counter's app while we investigate the incident. We're working closely with Double Counter and will take further actions as appropriate to protect our users.

Privacy isn’t about hiding. It’s about choice. It’s about dignity. It’s about deciding for ourselves who gets access to our data, and under what circumstances.

The Moment You Realized Privacy Actually Matters We all have that one moment that changed how we think about privacy. Maybe it was a scam call. Maybe it was targeted ads. Maybe it was something else. Tell us your story ⬇️

First Discord. Now Google and YouTube. Apparently age verification now means using your search history, YouTube watch history, online activity and social graph to estimate your age. And if AI age estimation gets it wrong? You may need to verify with a government ID or face scan.
Google is now using Canadians' search and YouTube history to estimate whether they're under 18 Those identified as minors will get bedtime reminders and blocked access to adult apps

Privacy goes beyond your messages! Discord is rolling out its revamped age-check system with over 90% of users not expected to need ID verification It estimates users' age groups using signals from their activity and account 🫣 A great reminder of how much metadata can reveal about you.
An update on how we confirm your age group on Discord from @svishnevskiy. Read the full blog here: discord.com/blog/safer-for-t…

Over 80 browser extensions are legally selling the data of 6.5 million users. Legally, because it's disclosed in the privacy policy. Two-thirds of people never open that policy. The loophole isn't hidden. It's just unread.

β€œProtect the kids” somehow keeps ending with β€œidentify everyone.”
🚨 THE AGE-VERIFIED INTERNET ARRIVES Starting Jan. 25, 2027, *most* social media platforms must confirm users’ ages before offering algorithmic feeds or late-night notifications. β€œProtect the kids” now means profile everyone. Reject ALL age verification laws!
