The system is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm by tonight, with landfall on the Upper Texas Coast expected Tuesday evening. The primary threat is heavy rainfall capable of causing flash flooding, especially for areas along and east of I-45.

ALT 1. An area of low pressure over the northern Gulf will likely become a short-lived tropical depression or storm before it reaches the Upper Texas or southwestern Louisiana coasts on Tuesday. Tropical storm watches or warnings could be required for portions of that area tonight or Monday morning. 2. Locally heavy rainfall is expected to spread westward across the Louisiana and Upper Texas Coast during the next couple of days. These rains could produce flash flooding across the Upper Texas coast and Southeast Texas.
