"The invisible does not mean imaginary."
Dr. Toshita Kumar is a sleep medicine director, board-certified in internal and pulmonary medicine and critical care. She's spent her career inside the medical system, and she still lived with endometriosis symptoms for 15 years before a stage IV diagnosis.
Trained to override her body and translate pain into lab numbers, she stayed quiet about the parts that couldn't be measured.
Now she's speaking up, in her own words, unedited.

"Lightning butt" isn't in any medical textbook. But if you know, you know.
#Endometriosis doesn't always sound clinical. Sometimes it sounds like a 2 a.m. text about teeth grinding, or needing to know where every bathroom is.
If a symptom ever felt too strange to mention to your doctor, mention it anyway.
Tell us the symptom you didn't realize was connected ⬇️

Ever wonder what #endometriosis researchers talk about when they’re off the clock? 👀
At EndoFound’s Seeds of Change event in NYC, @LilahPate got curious about where #endoresearch stands right now. We got to listen in as researchers from the @DrSeckin Endometriosis Research Center at @CSHL shared what they’re seeing in the lab.
Their answer: for years, the technology to truly study this disease didn’t exist. Now it does, and the team is ready.
One small seed of change doesn’t look like much. Thousands of them become a movement for awareness, research funding, education, and advocacy. That’s what Seeds of Change is about.
The event kicked off our six-month road to the Blossom Ball on March 8, 2027, and we can’t wait to watch what blooms. 💛

It doesn’t stop at the pelvis. Neither should care.

We were honored to bring EndoFound to the ESGE Congress in Kraków!
Thank you to the gynecologic surgeons, clinicians, and researchers from around the world who stopped by our booth to connect and talk about the future of endometriosis care.
Our co-founder @DrSeckin also took the stage to give a talk, sharing his decades of expertise with colleagues from 85 countries.
Every conversation brings us closer to earlier diagnosis and better care for those living with endo.

"I asked if that meant I had endometriosis. They said, 'No, it doesn't.'"
For years, Caitlin Hahn's pain was written off as cysts, even after an ultrasound showed an endometrioma. As a recovery room nurse, she finally got seen when the surgeons she worked with pushed her.
In June, surgery revealed stage 3–4 endometriosis. "It was everywhere."
Now she's speaking up so others don't wait like she did.

Out of thousands of runners in the TCS @nycmarathon, only 26 are chosen for @nyrr's Team Inspire. Our very own #teamEndoStrong runner Sarah Sleva is one of them.
Team Inspire highlights runners with especially transformative stories, each representing one mile of the 26.2-mile course. Sarah's selection puts endometriosis in front of one of the biggest audiences in running.
Diagnosed with stage IV endometriosis in 2024, Sarah went through two major surgeries, including a total hysterectomy and bowel resection, and wondered whether her endurance sports journey was over. On November 1, she runs her first marathon at the race's 50th anniversary, alongside a record 70 Team EndoStrong runners.
"A diagnosis does not have to define our limits."
We couldn't be prouder, Sarah 💛

Before World Mental Health Day this Saturday, October 10th, we want to talk about the part of endo that people can’t see.
The constant math of whether you can make it. The quiet grief. The worry that people will stop asking. So many of you carry this alone, and many have been told it isn’t real.
If you’re living in survival mode right now, you are not failing. You’re doing something incredibly hard, every single day.
This weekend, try to carve out one small moment that’s just for you. A slow morning, a walk, a call with someone who gets it. You’ve been carrying so much, let yourself set some of it down.

Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) retweeted
You’ve probably seen the headlines about new tests that claim to diagnose endometriosis without surgery.
I get a lot of questions about them, so I was glad Maggie Astor of @nytimes asked me and my esteemed colleagues to weigh in.

Our biggest #TeamEndoStrong ever is heading to the @nycmarathon.
After 11 years of up to 50 spots in the #NYCMarathon, New York Road Runners has given us 70, a 40% jump. Last year the team raised nearly $300,000. This year, we're going for $400,000+ for #endometriosis awareness, education, and research.
Among the newcomers are Abbie and Eva, both told for years that their pain was normal.
Abbie danced through nearly two decades of symptoms before a six-hour surgery found stage IV endometriosis. Her husband Tyler, who got her through the worst of it, will be on the course cheering her on. "She's not a different person since the surgery," he said. "She's the person she was always meant to be."
Eva's pain started in sixth grade. A doctor told her, "I don't think you have that." She did. A week after her excision surgery, she applied to join the team.

"It's definitely not thoracic endometriosis."
After nearly a week in the ICU with air in her chest that only appeared during her periods, Alexandra Henry was called a medical mystery and told she was "one-of-one." It happened again exactly one month later.
It took more than ten years and a doctor who recognized the pattern before surgery found endometriosis in her chest. Not one X-ray, CT, or MRI ever showed it.
Swipe to learn the symptoms, then read Alexandra's full essay, "Overlooked, Not Rare," on The Blossom: endofound.org/overlooked-not…

The more you know!
T. Albertini asked a great question on my last post: why does #adenomyosis cause GI symptoms?
Many patients don’t mention their GI symptoms to their gynecologist because they assume it’s a separate problem. It isn’t.
If your pelvic pain comes with GI symptoms, they’re connected
"As a law student with endometriosis, I've learned that zealous advocacy also applies to yourself. You know your body better than anyone else. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise."
Isabelle Garino’s pain started at 14. For six years, she was moved from one birth control pill to the next. None of them worked.
She kept going anyway, graduating magna cum laude and starting law school, until she decided she wasn't taking another pill.
That's when she became her own client.
