For more than 50 years, the ESAhas helped prevent the extinction of 99% of the species it protects. A recent OpEd piece by Dr. Megan Davis, in the @TDOnline highlights an important conversation: Why does the Endangered Species Act matter to all of us? tallahassee.com/story/opinio…

The Endangered Species Act has stood between imperiled wildlife and extinction for more than 50 years. Now, the Trump administration is advancing another sweeping reinterpretation that could leave endangered and threatened species vulnerable to injury, death, habitat destruction, pollution, and other harm, unless that harm can be proven intentional. That could have real consequences for wildlife across the country: piping plovers that need safe beaches to nest, salmon that depend on healthy rivers, grizzly bears that need connected habitat, and countless other species already fighting to survive. The ESA works. It has prevented 99% of the species under its protection from disappearing forever. Wildlife protections should be guided by science and focused on recovery, not weakened when species need them most. We will continue defending the Endangered Species Act and the wildlife, wild places, and future generations it protects. 🚨 URGENT ACTION ALERT 🚨Congress Votes Tomorrow. Defend North Atlantic Right Whales Today! Representative Mike Lawler of New York teamed up with Rep. Jared Golden of Maine to introduce H.R. 9436, legislation that would block the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from developing science-based measures to protect North Atlantic right whales from entanglement in commercial fishing gear until 2035. We've learned the House of Representatives plans to vote on this harmful bill tomorrow, on September 1, 2026. Emails and calls to Congress during the days leading up to the vote show that we are paying attention and won't let attacks on endangered species go quietly. We won't stop fighting for the North Atlantic right whale! Take action TODAY to urge your Representative to VOTE NO on H.R. 9436, Rep. Lawler and Rep. Golden’s attack on North Atlantic right whales. actionnetwork.org/letters/ur…

The North Atlantic right whale is one of the most endangered marine mammals on Earth. With fewer than 400 individuals remaining, every whale matters. Now, a dangerous proposal threatens to undermine efforts to save this iconic species. Unfortunately, H.R. 9436 would tie the hands of NOAA, the very agency charged with preventing the extinction of this species and make it even harder to address one of the greatest threats to its survival. Please take action today and urge your Representative to oppose Rep. Lawler and Rep. Golden’s bill. actionnetwork.org/letters/ur…

As America marks its 250th year, it’s more important than ever to reflect on the places that make our nation our home. Whether we've been here for generations or we moved here for a better life, America's bayous, beaches, deserts, forests and mountains are some of the best parts of our homeland. To ensure future generations have access to clean air, safe water, healthy wildlife, and healthy bodies, we must stand together. Our children deserve to enjoy our wildlife and public places as much as we do; it's our job to make sure America’s ecosystems are protected for years to come. We are committed to forming a more perfect union where future generations enjoy the liberties endowed by nature, justice, and health. Together, for America’s 250th, we must stand up for an America the Beautiful we can enjoy for 250 years to come. Join us. tally.so/r/0QlDkA. #AmericatheBeautiful4All

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 Time is Running Out. Tell NOAA Rice’s Whales Deserve Protections The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), under the direction of Under Secretary Neil Jacobs, is moving to eliminate important protections for the Rice’s whale. After already approving sweeping exemptions for the oil and gas industry during a March 31 federal committee meeting, NOAA is now taking steps to remove Rice’s whales’ ESA protections entirely. The science is clear: Rice’s whale is a distinct species in urgent need of protection. Without strong Endangered Species Act safeguards, this species could disappear forever. The public comment period closes in just a few days—on July 6. Tell NOAA: Protect Rice’s whale. Defend the Endangered Species Act. America’s whale deserves a future. To be most effective, we encourage you to submit a public comment referencing scientific information. Use our template and find more information about Rice’s whale on our blog here if you’d like to personalize your comment. TAKE ACTION: endangered.quorum.us/campaig…

Victory for wildlife! Congress is getting the message: Americans want a strong Endangered Species Act. The House rejected Rep. Andy Biggs’ shortsighted attempt to exempt the Department of Defense from the Endangered Species Act—a dangerous proposal that would have put vulnerable wildlife and critical habitat at risk. This bipartisan win belongs to everyone who spoke up for science, accountability, and a future where imperiled species can recover. The ESA works, and together, we will keep defending it. #DefendWildlife #ProtectTheESA #EndangeredSpeciesAct

🚨ACTION ALERT🚨 Military lands can be some of America’s most important refuges for wildlife. Because many installations have remained protected from intensive development, they provide habitat for hundreds of threatened and endangered species. Now Rep. Andy Biggs is again attempting to carve the Department of Defense out of the Endangered Species Act. His proposal has been offered as an amendment to the annual National Defense Authorization Act. This is a dangerous and unnecessary rollback. actionnetwork.org/letters/te…

A biodiversity crisis demands real leadership. Thank you, @SenWhitehouse, for taking this threat seriously and standing up for stronger protections for endangered species. The #EndangeredSpeciesAct is one of America’s strongest tools for preventing extinction and protecting the natural systems we all depend on.

The ocean has always been resilient, and so are we. If we can fully fund coral reef programs and recovery under the Endangered Species Act, while combining science, technology, and compassion, I believe we can still give Florida’s reefs and the communities that depend on them a fighting chance. endangered.org/floridas-cora… #CoralReefs #Florida #EndangeredSpeciesAct

🚨TAKE ACTION: SAVE A SEA ICON🚨 In the clear, warm waters of the Florida Keys, the queen conch moves slowly across the seafloor, carrying its remarkable shell like a living crown. It is one of the ocean’s great wonders. A sea snail with a shell so iconic it has become part of coastal memory and culture. A grazer that helps shape seagrass ecosystems. A marine animal that begins life drifting in the plankton before settling into shallow waters and growing into the striking pink-lipped shell many people recognize instantly. But beauty and resilience are not always enough. The queen conch gained protection under the Endangered Species Act in 2024, giving these vibrant creatures a fighting chance to rebuild their numbers and not reach extinction. That is why H.R. 1897 is so dangerous. H.R. 1897 would weaken the science-based foundation of the ESA and make it harder to defend species and the habitats they need to survive. ESC has warned that attacks on the ESA threaten wildlife by stripping scientific oversight and weakening habitat protections. This World Oceans Week we’re calling on you to help us celebrate ocean life and meet the moment to defend it. actionnetwork.org/letters/sa…
