Spoke today for City to City SoCal, a local affiliate of @RedeemerCTC.
Talbot grad Larry Acosta is doing a great job raising up, training, and supporting church planters all over Southern California.
It was a privilege to play a small part and share God’s Word.
Grateful for these leaders planting churches and making Christ known!
Great to be with @CityToCitySoCal, the local affiliate of @RedeemerCTC!
Love being with church planters passionate about reaching their communities with the gospel.
Grateful for my friend and Talbot grad Larry Acosta!
Praying for a gospel movement that transforms lives and cities!
Léonce Crump Jr. told me what pastors should lean into: “The thing that you are avoiding, the thing that you don’t wanna do, is probably the doorway to your next level.”

I know that some folks have become super obsessed with politics the last few years, and I imagine, if that's you, that the last few days may have gotten you distracted again, but at Mission Connexion Southwest, we're with hundreds of pastors here in Phoenix talking about to help local churches engaged in reaching Unreached People Groups.
Can I ask you maybe to consider putting your energy back into the Great Commission again?
Focusing on the mission of Jesus will never let you down.
Did you know @TalbotTheology has locations right where you may live? Be a part of what God is doing at Talbot AND your community at the same time. Talbot Embedded is coming to a city near you! Learn more at: buff.ly/uC4y6Rn
The most important theologian in each century?
I asked ChatGPT to force rank them. This is that unedited list.
Thoughts?

Conservatives, you have nothing left to fear because you have nothing left. The nation has turned away from a party that is governed by the whims of a man and now is the time to turn back to lasting principles.
Scoop: The White House delivered a warning to conservative groups on Thursday: We’re watching you wsj.com/politics/elections/w…
Guitar players: Why don’t you clip the ends of your strings? Did you spend so much on strings that you couldn’t afford clippers?
Help me understand.

Same sermon. Two openings.
Which one would you watch?
3 tips for a stronger sermon clip:
Start with your strongest line
Turn the big idea into a question
Put it on screen in the first 3 seconds

In an @OutreachMag planning meeting.
Who should we invite for articles and interviews?
Let me know quick. :-)
One of the things I love about Talbot is the opportunity to help people not only grow in their knowledge of God, but deepen their walk with Christ.
I'm especially excited about what we're doing through our Institute for Spiritual Formation and the opportunities our Global Cohort is opening up!
If you've ever considered taking that next step in your own spiritual formation, I'd encourage you to join us for an upcoming virtual info session. We'd love to have you!

"Please pray with us for Russia’s every effort for evil to fail; for Russians to leave Ukraine today; for an immediate ceasefire and a just peace."
If you're wondering how to pray, this came from one of our faculty and a missionary currently living in Kyiv, Ukraine.
If you’re a young man—or anyone—who put your full hope in politics, and this blue tidal wave has you questioning your faith, let me remind you: Jesus is still Lord.
I’ve read the end of the Book. Jesus wins.
Find a church focused on biblical teaching and the Great Commission. Lean into a vibrant community that is joining Jesus on mission.
Politics will fail us.
But the mission of Jesus is worthy of your energy and focus.
Give yourself to something that lasts.
With pastors and leaders in Phoenix-- again-- equipping them with our faculty.
It's like my second home now—though the Hampton Inn does not qualify as a home. :-)
My library should be here this month for my new office.
Let's go Talbot Seminary—Phoenix.
New in @RNS, includes Ed's comments:

Ed Stetzer, dean of Talbot Seminary at Biola University, said we don’t yet have data on what might have made white evangelicals hesitant to vote — whether it was factors like the war in Iran and tariffs or concerns about “character issues” in Republican candidates.
“I do think that the enthusiasm gap was evident, and I think that white evangelicals, who tend to be Republican, were certainly less enthusiastic (than) in prior elections,” said Stetzer. “My hope is that this is an opportunity for Republicans to return to principled conservatism and to issues of character.”
Lots of people speaking against what they call “loser theology.” John Dickson actually says we should lose well.
Try to listen to the podcast before you reply. :-)

Exciting things are happening in Portland!
Had a great day speaking… and seeing the possibilities for Talbot Embedded to take root in this city! We’re looking forward to adding Portland to our growing network of locations, bringing theological education directly into churches and ministries through a local cohort of seminary students.
While in town, I drove by the former campus of Multnomah University and Seminary, an institution with a rich history of preparing men and women for Christian ministry. It was a meaningful reminder of both the legacy of theological education in this city and the challenges facing Christian higher education today.
Excited for what is ahead!
As always, email TalbotEmbedded@Biola.edu for info about Portland (and Honolulu, Las Vegas, Boise, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, Nashville, and NYC!)
I asked JP Pokluda how a church leader tells idolatry from demonic influence, and how that difference changes the way we pray.
