This funding will help countries gradually take over and run their own HIV programs, while also supporting the important work of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. As the process moves forward in the Senate, we hope that additional resources can be found to ensure the U.S. pledge to the Global Fund of $4.6 billion over three years is reached on an annual basis. We also hope immediate ‘bridge’ funding will be sent to the front lines to help keep people alive while new agreements with partner countries are finalized.
