The Cornell 7 case is dominating this week's headlines, after a female student accused seven fraternity brothers of drugging and sexually assaulting her in October 2024. The men have denied wrongdoing, saying the encounter was consensual. And a new twist is complicating the case: one of the accused men says he was too intoxicated on ketamine to give consent, and thus legally – as reported by the New York Post – Jane Doe "was the one who therefore assaulted him during the debauched and drunken night, and not the other way around..." A lot of people are mixing up two different questions: what is illegal, and what is immoral? Attorney Viva Frei joins us today to help us separate those two questions, and explain why the district attorney likely declined to bring charges in the first place.
