If you'd like to start an #emudhra competitor in India, a CCA license requires 50 crores for companies and 5 crores for Individuals/firms. The rest of the guidelines are at cca.gov.in/sites/files/pdf/g…

‼️ A low-skill hacker used a jailbroken DeepSeek V4 to breach an Indian public university and steal 5,200+ student and faculty records, Unit 42 says. The AI agent even drafted a "NEXT EXPLOIT OPPORTUNITIES" plan. Unrelated criminals now run the same cheap DeepSeek setup.

Taylor on Indian company eMudhra using just the number 4 as the private key to sign certificates, even through two audits "The specific company that we're talking about here is called eMudhra. An Indian company. Apparently, they're an authority. They do a lot of work, I guess, with India government and governments in that region." "Their entire job is to create a very secure private key and then sign these various certificates with those private keys, which then helps secure the internet on the whole for everyone around the world." "It turns out that instead of generating the private key in a secure way, where the private key was truly random, the private key was just the number four." "There's very little information on how exactly this happened. What we know right now, the private key has been the number four for over a year. It's been signing stuff since April 2025." "Apparently, they were audited twice in this period of time. Clearly, that needs to be reviewed."

Many people in India's capital, Delhi, are missing work as they try to get their names back on the voter list. Millions of Delhi residents have been removed in a nationwide revision of electoral rolls known as the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR reut.rs/4sidCs9

This announcement of "eMudhra to Exit global SSL/TLS Certificate Business" by @eMudhra is only raking up the rank stink. They should undergo a thorough Digital and Financial Forensic Audit and their assets should get frozen with immediate effect. emudhra.com/en/press-release…

eMudhra, Jan 2025: We can't issue you a simple digital signature certificate unless your Aadhaar seeding status is active. eMudhra, Oct 2026: One of our certificate authority private keys was the number 4. Your identity needs 12 digits. Their security needed one.

India has never invested in cyber security. As a country Nandan Nilekani told us we don't need to regulate IT. Aadhaar leaks, it is conspiracy. Voter deletions with software, it is conspiracy. SBI data leak, conspiracy eMudra is a conspiracy. Where is Data Protection Board?

The eMudhra leak has become a major cyber security issue globally. Many global infosec accounts and experts are questioning the capability of Indian Firms. While some of their criticism is justified but we need to ask them one question. Can they sing two stanzas of Vande Mataram?

Real problem is capitalism, state are so closed that they have no place for dissent. It's very easy to call cert in empanelled jokers, very hard to be lead a normal life being a rational person against state, market functioning which are large scale excesses on people.
An independent audit would be nice too. Not from the CERT-In empanelled jokers or the big 10 who are showered with government contracts. Truly independent auditors.

Why do you need crypto and privacy when India can export Aadhaar helping you destroy your democracy.

eMutra has permanently destroyed Indian cybersecurity sector. No one will take us seriously now.
The fun fact about the eMudhra certificate leak is that the numbers were so low that only an AI or a flawed/test script would have found them. No sane human would have thought that a fellow human could have done something that stupid.

Just used LiteLLM to create my first PHP website. The AI even suggested getting a certificate from eMudhra for HTTPS to protect my login page. The future looks really bright 🥳

They already do and it is called e-Sign with mandatory Aadhaar linking.
i fear if we make too much noise around eMudhra accountability, government will decide that every deployment now needs an approval from a babu. 😭

The act of removing eMudhra from all trust stores essentially is a distrust towards indian tech, good luck providing any certs including pqc in future to American clienta.
