The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle was installed as the 39th Dean of Westminster at Evensong this afternoon. Dr Hoyle, formerly Dean of Bristol, now oversees the spiritual life of the Abbey and gives leadership to the Abbey community.

I am very grateful to @BishopAngaelos for this lovely icon of the Holy Family - which will be a precious reminder of our very warm friendship and a blessing.
Fraternal meeting of religious leaders at @WAbbey today facilitated by dear brother and friend @DeanWestminster on our engagement with society, and the promotion of religion as a solution rather than a problem. Praying every blessing upon the Dean as he retires later this year.

A very moving Service of Thanksgiving and Rededication to mark the 79th anniversary of #BattleOfBritain takes place at @wabbey with participation of @deanwestminster & @ChiefofAirStaff. I’m proud of 🇵🇱 pilots fighting in #BattleOfBritain & I’m proud they were remembered today.

Prayers too for Dean John Hall, whose long service as @deanwestminster has been a gift not just to the Abbey, but to the whole country and all those who have been welcomed at this sacred place during his time. xitter.cf/wabbey/status/11413075…

A humble man whose message of welcome and inclusion I first enjoyed when he spoke at the @TheUnionLeague of Philadelphia; he later welcomed my family at the Abbey when my daughter Karen gave her first organ recital there in 2013 (at age 17!). Godspeed, @deanwestminster...

I am delighted at the appointment of The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Bristol, as my successor. It has been a huge privilege being @deanwestminster and I shall miss @wabbey very much. But the time will come at the beginning of November: last day All Saints' Day. Rejoice!

A long-time submariner from my parish was blessed by the service. He appreciated your focus upon the support of families and the nature of the deterrent his service provided. Thank you.

Such a beautiful day @wabbey today with large numbers of clergy and 2,000 or so parishioners, celebrating Our Lady of Walsingham

We never were, Michael; that was never my intention.
Whatever the Abbey says now the perception is they were celebrating the possession of weapons of mass destruction.

No personal antipathy, just regret at criticism without prior serious engagement: seems casual and rather careless

Regrettable that the Bp of Colchester decided not to discuss the service with me, rather than simply criticising without information
Great piece from Bishop Roger Morris earlier. Sad the @deanwestminster didn't listen and instead rang the Abbey's bells which sounded like joyous wedding bells to celebrate Britain's nuclear weapons system. #NoThanks4Nukes newstatesman.com/politics/st…
