President Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, was fired Friday, after less than a week on the job. Trump told reporters on Friday that he encouraged Zacharia to “reconsider” the job. “Honestly, if I were you, I would reconsider,” Trump recalled telling her. “Maybe it’s not for her.” Zacharia has spent the past 48 hours defending her rocky debut and facing accusations that she misled the public about her legal credentials by describing herself as an attorney despite not passing the bar. Her first briefing Tuesday drew criticism after she took just three questions in 14 minutes. Asked whether he wished he had known about her bar status, Trump instead blamed the media for treating her “very unfairly” and acknowledged that Fox News host Sean Hannity was “a little bit tough” on her during an interview Thursday night. “I just asked her, is this (job) for you?” Trump said. “I’m going to let her make that decision.”
