"Never beg for anything in the music business" is a childish and inexperienced thing to say.
In business, there is a time you've to beg, lobby and pray for things.
And there's a time to "enter with boldness".
No matter how valuable you become, there are things you won't be able to attract or get without honour to people and appealing to their ego.
Do what you've to do as long as it is legal and won't require you to compromise on your values.
The music business is just as political and corrupt as any other system.
At different points, you’ll find yourself either the sheep among wolves or the wolf among sheep.
But whichever the case, you've to be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Sometimes you’ll have to beg, lobby, be diplomatic, or even apply pressure. Other times, it’s about walking in with leverage and undeniable value.
It’s all part of the gamesmanship you’ll need to survive and sustain yourself in this space.
But the trick is to never lose sight of who you are and the purpose that drives you.
