Yesterday’s storm brought a significant increase in calls for service across the city. Our members worked alongside our first responder and emergency partners to respond to those who needed us most.
Non-emergency calls also saw a substantial increase with 831 calls, compared to 579 calls during the same period on September 1, a 44% increase in volume.

When you call 9-1-1, every second matters.
Through our partnership with @RapidSOS, @comm911tps dispatchers can access enhanced location information and additional data to help connect people in need of emergency services faster.

This is an actual call our communications team received. While we can laugh at the absurdity of it, the reality is that tying up 9-1-1 for a bad hotel experience puts actual lives at risk.
If you are ever unsure if your situation is an emergency, but it is NOT life-or-death or a crime in progress, please use our non-emergency line: 905-453-3311
Let's keep 9-1-1 open for those who truly need it.
