🚨 Update. Marathwada Water Grid Project Gains Momentum! Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to expedite the Marathwada Water Grid Project and submit its preliminary project report (PPR) to the Union Government's Department of Economic Affairs at the earliest. Key Highlights: - ₹20,000 crore JICA financing: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has responded positively to providing financial assistance of approximately ₹20,000 crore for the first phase. - Four districts in Phase 1: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur and Dharashiv. - Dam interlinking: Jayakwadi, Majalgaon, Manjara, Ujani, Lower Terna and Lower Manar reservoirs will be interconnected. - 3,095 km pipeline network: A combination of primary and secondary pipelines, along with 15 water treatment plants, will be developed. - Beneficiaries: Approximately 1 crore people are expected to benefit directly from the project. Project Cost & Timeline The estimated cost of the water grid covering all eight districts of Marathwada is approximately ₹25,056 crore. The first phase is expected to receive around ₹20,000 crore in JICA loan assistance. The state government aims to complete the project by 2029. Advanced Japanese Technology Considering that Latur and Dharashiv fall within an earthquake-prone region, advanced Japanese earthquake-resistant technologies will be incorporated. These include ductile iron pipes, modern pumping systems and SCADA-based monitoring. The project will also ensure sustainable water supply to major industrial hubs, including AURIC City, Shendra-Bidkin and Waluj in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar region. The Marathwada Water Grid aims to transfer water from reservoirs with surplus storage to drought-prone areas through a closed pipeline network, addressing the region's uneven water distribution.
Marathwada Water Grid is set to Come Back . 🔸Maharashtra Seeking Finance From World Bank for Marathwada Water Grid Project ➡️It was conceived during the tenure of the Devendra Fadnavis government in the state between 2014 and 2019 and was then estimated to cost about ₹40,000 crore. ▶️The Marathwada water grid aims to connect all irrigation projects in the region to overcome the water crisis there.

This is the correct call. Mumbai’s two airports cannot run like two separate cities. Consolidating all flights to these 14 destinations at one airport (NMIA) from Summer 2027 is basic operational hygiene.CSMIA’s Terminal 1 needs major structural work. That requires temporarily moving ~5 million passengers of traffic. Indian carriers have already committed to shifting a large share. Foreign airlines wanting to keep every route split between both airports is short-term commercial convenience, not system logic. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… The numbers are straightforward: 1) One destination = one airport across the entire MMR. 2) No more passenger confusion or inefficient dual operations on the same route. 3) CSMIA gets the capacity headroom needed to rebuild T1 properly. 4) NMIA gets a meaningful international base instead of starting from scratch. Every mature dual-airport city (London, New York, Tokyo) eventually consolidates routes for exactly this reason. Fragmenting them creates noise, not capacity. Foreign carriers resisting this is predictable. They prefer the established airport. But the system constraint is real, and the T1 rebuild cannot wait. Prioritising total MMR capacity over individual airline slot preference is the only sensible outcome. This is not a radical idea. It is delayed pragmatism.

What does it really mean for a country to reduce poverty? The answer goes beyond how much its citizens earn or consume. Poverty also involves deprivation in essential aspects of human well-being. And that makes India's progress in multidimensional poverty particularly important. According to figures highlighted in the World Bank's October 2026 Poverty & Equity Brief, OPHI's Multidimensional Poverty Index shows that India's poverty rate declined from 53.8% in 2005–06 to 16.4% in 2019–21. Separately, the World Bank's multidimensional poverty measure stood at 15.5% in 2022–23. These measures are distinct, but both provide important perspectives on non-monetary deprivation. Meanwhile, monetary poverty has also declined dramatically. At the $4.20/day threshold, an estimated 496 million Indians moved above the poverty line between 2011 and 2023. The combination of these findings makes India's development story particularly compelling. Progress is visible not only in monetary poverty statistics, but also across broader dimensions of human welfare. For a country of India's scale, these achievements represent an extraordinary transformation.

Family member went for checkup at Apollo Hospitals and the feedback was solid. They said efficient process, high quality care and infrastructure was excellent. Good to see options that don’t feel chaotic. For those on X looking for similar can certainly consider Apollo.

Building more roads isn't enough. If the 'Mumbai One' system delivers seamless multi-transit planning & payments, it could finally shift trips away from private cars—especially as the new metro & connector projects mature. #MMRDA is on right track to build more network. #Mumbaimetro
Across Mumbai in 59 minutes—through more travel choices and better connections. At Network18’s Rising Bharat Summit – West Edition, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, explained the vision behind Mumbai in Minutes. MMRDA’s approach brings together road connectors, tunnels, expanding Metro and suburban rail networks, and stronger bus connectivity. Mumbai One supports that vision by connecting 11 public transport operators on one platform. The goal: give commuters more options, ease pressure on individual routes and make the complete journey faster and more convenient. #MMRDA #MumbaiInMinutes #RisingBharatSummit #MumbaiOne #RebootingMumbai #ReshapingMMR @Dev_Fadnavis @mieknathshinde @DrSanMukherjee

Developed countries have already cut the trees needed to cut decades ago while they became developed. What do you think they became developed without a single tree being cut? Now when developing countries are doing the same they face opposition and lecturing.

100,000 trees were cut for the first three phases of Delhi Metro. Unlike the Sena parasites, BJP as a responsible opposition party did not create any obstacles citing fake environmental concerns and try to sabotage the project.

Cheap internet has made information easily accessible, but somehow, the habit of actually researching a topic before forming an opinion seems to be disappearing. Why was there no outrage when Torrent Power received approval for the project, when the proposed PSP site was already known? Why wake up now and start questioning the project without even understanding its background? Yes, the estimated number of trees to be felled is high, and that deserves scrutiny. Environmental concerns are legitimate. But the entire purpose of a Pumped Storage Project (PSP) is to support renewable energy storage and grid stability. You cannot oppose every infrastructure project in the name of the environment while conveniently ignoring the need for reliable, cleaner energy. And Can't people even read and understand the project details before making allegations? Dragging unrelated names into the debate without establishing the facts is a ridiculous argument. The logic that saving the environment means opposing energy storage while continuing to depend on coal-fired power is equally absurd. What exactly is the alternative being proposed? Ironically, people living in high-rise towers across expanding urban areas are now lecturing everyone about environmental protection. If this were a data centre or any other project with questionable environmental or economic implications, we would be equally critical. The point is not to support every project blindly; it is to evaluate projects based on facts, technical merits, environmental impact, and long-term benefits. The project site also reportedly falls outside the Ecologically Sensitive Zone. If that is the case, then the discussion should focus on actual environmental clearances, ecological assessments, mitigation measures, and the project's necessity , not misinformation and manufactured outrage. People need to develop the habit of reading official documents, understanding the facts, and researching before jumping to conclusions. This is exactly how Maharashtra risks losing big-ticket investments and infrastructure projects to other states. When every major project becomes a political controversy, investors eventually look for places where execution is less complicated. The irony is even greater when the same people oppose river-linking projects but demand uninterrupted water and electricity supply, 24×7. They want development, but oppose the infrastructure required to support it. They demand environmental protection, but how many of them actually plant trees, protect local ecosystems, or contribute to conservation themselves? Environmental protection and infrastructure development are not mutually exclusive. The real debate should be about responsible development, credible environmental safeguards, and evidence-based decision-making—not uninformed outrage. Maharashtra needs informed citizens who can question projects intelligently, not people who oppose everything first and research later.

A commuter should not have to download another application for every service. Connecting Metro ticketing to familiar platforms is the kind of everyday innovation that makes a difference.
#SundayMusings Mumbai One: One Journey, One Door. A passenger does not ask who built the corridor or which agency runs the service. They ask simpler questions: whether the next leg is there, whether the ticket will work, whether the transfer will take longer than the ride itself.

Pune Metro is expanding, Ring Road is moving ahead. Good progress. But for most commuters, the real pain is the last 2 to 3 km after the station. Safe, licensed bike taxis can fill that gap if implementation is clear. Infrastructure isn’t only about big projects. It’s also about how easily people finish the full journey every day. Last-mile options in Pune need as much planning attention as the Metro.

This is not a monopoly case. It’s a capacity and safety case. Mumbai’s T1 is ~60 years old. There was a short-circuit fire there earlier this year. The operator is redeveloping the North Section of T1B from January 2027 affecting roughly 5 million passengers a year (~9% of total traffic). 91% of operations continue. After redevelopment, T1 capacity goes up 33% (15 → 20 mppa) and historic slots are restored with more capacity added. Navi Mumbai Airport exists precisely because the existing airport has been capacity-constrained for years. It is a government-approved PPP (Adani 74%, CIDCO 26%). The temporary shift option to NMIA is one of the choices given to airlines so that redevelopment can happen without shutting the terminal down. Winter schedule was left untouched after discussions. Summer 2027 transition is still being worked out with the ministry and airlines. Same corporate operating both airports in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region allows coordinated planning for a city that needs far more capacity, not two operators fighting over slots. Airports are regulated by AERA. Dual ownership under a PPP structure is not the same as an unregulated monopoly. Airlines preferring to protect existing high-value slots at the older, closer airport is understandable from their side. It does not change the fact that the old terminal needs work and the new airport is already operational to take the load.
This is a fit case for the monopoly commission to investigate. How can the same corporate own both the airports in a megacity like Mumbai? But Modi hai to Mumkin hai (when it comes to Adani).

Everyday like this in most cities. People learn to read road signs. But unfortunately they don't learn it. This is area where India performed poorly in global standards if driving. Sadly even majority of people love this chaos on Road.
