The State Water Board took conservation actions that helped California’s residential and commercial properties save 25% more water during the 2012-16 extreme drought than had ever been saved before.  Now 18% of that water conservation remains even without a drought.

We are pleased to share that, after a thorough review process that included several revisions and opportunities for public input, @CalRecycle formally approved MRC’s amended program plan on October 8, 2026. This approval marks an important milestone for California's mattress recycling program and reflects the continued collaboration with manufacturers, state and local agencies, retailers and other stakeholders.
