The @Independent reports on our letter to government on reorganisation, with @seanmatthewsRUK arguing that the review must lead to a material change of direction.

Our Chair-Elect @seanmatthewsRUK represented county and unitary councils at the @mhclg Leaders' Council this week.
He shared our members' views on Rewiring the State, devolution, and local government reorganisation - ensuring that their perspective was heard by ministers.
✍️ We've written to ministers, arguing that last week's pause to the reorganisation programme must now result in a 'material change of direction'.
Where reorganisation is desired, government should revert to its original criteria and fully-funded transition and implementation costs.
