I think “analytics” has been used as a buzzword in football for long enough that people may or may not actually understand what their actual purpose is. Analytics is simply iterated and reiterated data interpretation. You can’t play the game 10,000 times in real life, but *given good inputs* a trained model can simulate those out for you and advise your best course of action. Over time, it notices trends we do not because we have accepted and adopted a certain way of doing things. There’s nothing to hate or dislike about them. They’re just aggregated and interpreted data.
