If we only use AI to make the things that we already make, just faster, then we're definitely missing out on the most interesting part.
From my talk at @lennysan’s Summit, here are four ideas for raising the ceiling, not just the floor:
- Have a point of view [5:38]
- Encode your standards into the machine [9:07]
- Don't confuse done with good [12:21]
- Unleash creativity and artistry [16:19]

Vanderpoole recently appeared on Large Big News with Deborah Chunk. It went about as (not) well as you would have expected.
Imagine having a Bitcoin UX designer right by your side, which you can just plug into your AI-powered work flow.
It's cooking right now. 🍳 Sharing just some of the feedback that we got after a Bitcoin builder used the Vibe Design skill file.

Thanks to @GBKS @MouxDesign at @bitcoin_design Foundation for funding my work and keeping me afloat in its aftermath. Same with @francispouliot_ and @bitgould for helping in other ways.
Was good while it lasted.
Bitcoin design is hard to get right and easy to ignore when someone does. Bitcoin bites exists to highlight the teams getting it right.
Edition #4 out now and features Traxe, @umbrel, and @Trezor. Read it here: bitcoindesign.substack.com/p…
This is an open invitation to you and everyone in the community. We have a Design Huddle happening tomorrow. If you're wondering what a design huddle is, its means an open space for you to bring questions about a project that you're working on and bring requests to collaborate.
One of the topics that we'll be talking about is the current project, which is the Bitcoin Design Guide UX research, where we'll be speaking to builders to help to understand what their needs are right now while building in the AI age. It would be great to have you guys there!
One more thing: the new QML based Bitcoin Core GUI is available for adventurous testers only as an early preview demo.
We've had some rounds of testing with a select group of devs and the great team over at @lclhostresearch giving good feedback and finding bugs.
It’s experimental, signet-only, and not an official Bitcoin Core release. Try it and tell us (@johnny9dev, @pseudoramdom) what works and what you don't like:
bitcoincore.app
None of this would be possible without the @bitcoin_design community and their benevolent dictator @GBKS
Goal is to get this across the finish line for the following Bitcoin Core release. 🌎🌍🌏
Bitcoin Core v32.0 is targeted for release in October:
- Up to 3x faster initial sync. Block validation now fetches transaction inputs from disk in parallel instead of one at a time
- The libevent external dependency is fully removed, continuing Core's push to cut third-party dependencies
- Max peer connections raised from 125 to 200 to have more open slots for new nodes to sync from, faster block propagation, and a harder network to eclipse or partition
- Mempool-based fee estimation to cut fee overestimation (in progress)
- Transaction relay rate limiting is now global instead of per-peer, keeping a node's CPU and memory usage steady when transaction volume spikes
- Ships with features from libsecp256k1 0.8.0 with verification up to 11% faster, plus the new Silent Payments module (BIP 352)
- PSBTv2 (BIP 370) support, now the default for PSBT-creating RPCs for better coordination of unsigned transactions for multisig and hardware wallet setups
- New exportwatchonlywallet command to export a wallet as a watch-only file, no private keys, and restore it on your online node
- Core now enables Tor's proof-of-work DDoS defense on the onion service it creates for your node, where the Tor daemon supports it
Additional tests, bugfixes, and features included as well.
Feature freeze is ~August 20, rc1 ~September 10, final release targeted for ~October 10. (Test the release candidates when they ship!)

spent the last few days working on cashu me restore. we support automated mint backup over nostr. an nsec is derived from seed and encrypts your mint list then publish it to relays.
what that means for the user: when they enter their 12 words, they don't need to remember which mints they were using. we can fetch the mint list from the seed.

Everyone can audit their service at @bitcoin_design since many years and it should be used more often. But instead there's this claim that bitcoin (devs) doesn't need marketing (peoples' knowledge on UX). Or that users should get used to cli to set up a node. This is where we are at.

How hard should we push people towards proper security measures? Do nothing? Keep it subtle and rely on them to "get it"? Or be super intense and in their faces about it and induce anxiety?
🙏
Bitcoin Red Team Update:
We have been working around the clock, with ~$20,000 of spend up to this point across different services. Funding is secured, I appreciate all the gestures for donations but it is not necessary. The bill is taken care of.
We have done over a dozen disclosures up to this point, with 150 repos scanned. The hardest part is coordinating to get things to the right people (thank you @danielabrozzoni for the help)
I have a first pass on a bitcoin red team agent harness which only requires an @opencode zen api key, makes it easy for us to use K3 for the actual heavy lifting and then GPT Sol + Fable/Opus + GLM5.2 for supporting documentation.
While it is powerful, having found critical issues, I would view this as only version one. There is a lot of iteration I'm looking forward to improving on.
Our goal is to open source the harness so it can be pointed at internal repositories for insights so the hardening of defenses can go deeper than the code which is made public.
We also have been connected with OpenAi for some help so I could manage getting the @OpenAI Cyber Harness running as well (thank you @lylepratt ). Its a much more expensive scan, but well worth it for load bearing portions of the bitcoin ecosystem and has already yielded good results.
Goals for tomorrow are scale in processes and systems so we can do a better job and automating full end to end functionality to get humans out of the loop for the heavy lifting. The first mile (requests/staging) and last mile (handoff of reports) are the choke points right now.
Thank you @stutxo @callebtc @benthecarman @thesimplekid and so may more.

COLDCARD Mk3 Security Advisory
If you generated a seed on a Mk3 after firmware 4.0.1, your funds may be at risk.
Mk4, Q and Mk5 are not affected based on our early analysis.
Read the advisory and migrate carefully:

Sharing one of our first stories on the Between Us project, showing everyday people using bitcoin.
Sharing the story of Sabina, we had so much of fun interviewing her and learning about her bitcoin journey!

The most important stories about AI and bitcoin aren't the ones making headlines. They're the everyday ones like the farmer who saved his crop with an AI photo app or the shop owner running a stronger business because she accepts bitcoin.
We're collecting those stories for Between Us. If you're using these tools in a way that changed something for you, I want to hear it.
One recorded conversation, under an hour. Your real name or anonymous, your call. You approve every word before it goes live.
