my take plus a little fud.
i think at this point we're just following the stock market. nothing more complicated than that.
we're not bullish unless stocks are bullish.
look around.
the Fed meets next week, oil prices are rising, inflation is still a problem, geopolitical tensions are everywhere, gold and metals dumping, and the bond market isn't making life any easier.
meanwhile, big tech is starting to face some uncomfortable questions about the hundreds of billions being poured into AI and whether those insane valuations can actually be justified.
US midterms are less than two weeks away, adding another layer of uncertainty.
and crypto?
we've got our own problems. hacks, exploits, overleveraged traders getting wiped out on both sides, and a market that seems to need Wall Street's permission to go up.
i'm struggling to find a crypto-specific catalyst strong enough to change the bigger picture.
sure, we can bounce. we can squeeze the shit out of shorts. we can have a beautiful green day that get everyone excited again.
but a relief rally and a sustainable bull market are two very different things.
i'm not saying we can't go higher from here. i'm saying that until equities find their footing and real risk appetite comes back, it's hard for me to see crypto starting a meaningful bull run on its own.
we're not leading anything right now.
we're following.
being bearish in this market is pretty convenient.
red candle is confirmation, green candle is a bull trap, sideways is distribution.
you literally cannot be wrong.
crucial times. everyone seems bearish, like we're just sitting here waiting for the next leg down. breaking the range.
what bothers me is what happens if it actually comes.
if we lose this range, i don't see an immediate recovery. inflation is back, hawkish Fed, rate hikes are back on the table, war, oil is ripping, midterms are around the corner and there isn't much on the horizon to bring risk appetite back.
we could be looking at months, possibly years, of a bear market again. and the scary part is how quickly everyone will go from waiting to buy the dip to praying for their money back.
we need a good leg up, soon, it will bring the bulls back again. owtherwise... yeah, best call is stay small, or just sit on your hands, wtvr you do, survive this, ***you don't have to catch any move in this market***.
the market doesn't have to go down to take your money.
it can just go sideways long enough for you to lose your mind and start forcing trades.
stocks are closed, bonds are closed, and crypto traders are now left unsupervised with what's left of their capital.

you need to understand risk, and you need to take it, otherwise someone else will.
problem with waiting for the market to become less risky is that by the time everyone agrees it's safe again, the good entries are gone.
the narrative:
two days ago we were pricing in another rate hike.
today we're pricing in the possibility that this was just a misunderstanding.
the market is one trump tweet away from a trade deal and one trump tweet away from world war 3. good luck positioning for that.
all I'm saying is try to keep your trading as simple as possible. the more you overthink it and make things more complex the higher the odds that you will find yourself surprised and unready when the market is just doing market things.
have you seen this market teleport 20% down? all your stops hit at the lows with generous slippage?
let's just say it's not that simple to keep short-term and long-term accounts separate without one affecting the other.
focus on one strategy. one system. one side. higher.
CPI comes in 0.1% above estimates and guys who spent all week trading cartoon frogs suddenly have very serious opinions about the 2-year treasury yield 🤝
The worst thing about being a trader is that even when you're doing absolutely nothing, you're somehow still working.
