The resurrection of Jesus was a new beginning for all of God's creation. Just as in Genesis God had created the heavens and the earth on the first day of the week, so now He brought Jesus back to life on the first day of the week.
Adam's sin brought death into the world. Through the resurrection of Christ, something even greater than the Fall has come to pass. Jesus' victory over the grave was the resounding declaration that death shall not have the final word for God's creation.
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).
From the foundations of creation, God's plan to redeem the world focused on the cross (1 Peter 1:19-20; Revelation 13:8), which would open a new, living way to the Father through the death of Christ (Hebrews 10:20).
Something of immense horror did indeed happen at the cross, yet it was also something of immense goodness. There, the love of God and the seriousness of sin were made manifest, and the curse of sin was broken for all who trust in Christ.
