Game 1 of the Preseason is in the books and hockey is back. One year ago we lost the man who spent his post Hall of Fame career, 2x Cup Champion, growing the game through Snider Hockey. Bernie Parent was growing the game during his time playing as well. It’s because of Bernie Parent that I fell in love with the game and the goaltending position. Bernie was the baited hook that got me and is the reason why I do what I do for a living all these decades later. They say don’t ever meet your idols or heroes because they will only let you down. That was not the case with Bernie. As great of a goaltender as he was, Bernie was an even better person and I am so grateful I got to know the man behind that mask. I am reminded of him everyday as I see his signature mask on my wall and can still hear the chants of Bernie Bernie Bernie in my minds eye. We miss you Frenchie. You left a mark on this old goalie. @bernieparent @giniparent @NHLFlyers

It’s been a quarter century as of today, and yet it’s still as important as ever to remember this day for those of us who lived it, and to pass along the meaning of it to the younger generation that may have no recollection of it. #neverforget

Here are the @NHLFlyers’ names when they won their Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975. The names will be removed from the Cup in 2031, when that ring comes off to make room for other teams.
Hopefully by then., Philly will have finally won another Cup.

The @FlyersAlumni have just made a $10K donation to Blood Cancer United in loving memory of Barry Ashbee and Yanick Dupre.
The donation is also in honor of the recovery by Oskar Lindblom from bone cancer (different condition but presented with similar symptoms).
Causes like these are where 100% proceeds from Alumni events like Charity Classic Weekend go.
