THE LOST BOYS (1987) is what happens when teenage vampires, Santa Carla’s boardwalk, and a great soundtrack. Add Tim Cappello’s legendary saxophone scene, and you’ve got the most gloriously 80s comfort horror imaginable.
What’s a movie you consider a comfort movie that would surprise most people?
Everyone has the usual go-to picks like HARRY POTTER or THE LORD OF THE RINGS, but some of us find comfort in movies that are anything but comforting.
MEMORIES OF MURDER (2003) is one of those films. There’s something so absorbing about Bong Joon-ho’s darkly funny, unsettling crime thriller that revisiting it never gets old, even knowing how haunting the story becomes.
What’s your unconventional comfort movie?

Bruce Willis in DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE (1995), fighting like a man who’s already taken more punishment than anyone should survive. McClane never looks invincible & that’s what makes watching him drag himself through another brutal fight so satisfying.
What are the greatest “you have absolutely no idea who you’re messing with” scenes in movie history?
When some arrogant punk picks a fight with the wrong person and realizes far too late that they’re completely out of their depth.
The bar fight in JACK REACHER and the biker bar scene in TERMINATOR 2 are perfect examples.
What other scenes belong on this list?

THE REPLACEMENTS (2000) is the kind of underdog football movie you can predict beat for beat, yet Hackman & Keanu make it a blast. “What are they gonna do, put you in writer’s jail?” remains an all-time line.
What movie had absolutely no right being as good as it was?
A film that could’ve easily been a lazy cash grab built around an existing IP, but somehow turned out genuinely brilliant. THE LEGO MOVIE and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES are perfect examples.
What movie went in with rock-bottom expectations and completely blew you away?

THE RAID: REDEMPTION (2011) has no business making a cramped hallway feel like an endless gauntlet. Then it keeps finding new ways to make the next fight even more brutal.

Personally...I'm mad they decided to buff shooting...Its gonna end up just like 26 all over again sooner or later.
I'll never understand how every time a new 2k drops ppl wanna still play it like the last 2k instead of just adapting to the new one...🤦🏾♂️

When Dolly Parton approached Robert Plant for permission to record her version of “Stairway to Heaven,” she reportedly worried about how he would react. Instead, Plant’s response was wonderfully simple: “Of course you can, you’re Dolly Parton.”
And somehow, that feels like the perfect answer. Dolly didn’t try to copy Led Zeppelin — she took one of rock’s most iconic songs and made it unmistakably her own, adding a touch of country, gospel, and her unmistakable voice.
Sometimes, a legend recognizing another legend is all the permission you need.
