Bandon Library is hosting a unique collaboration between Creative Bandon Coláiste na Toirbhirte & Crawford Art Gallery for the month of October!
The project is part of Crawford's Learn & Explore outreach & education programme with Creative Bandon as part of this year's Bandon Banshee Festival.
Artist Annie Mar Forrester from Cork Zine Festival facilitated workshops with 4th year students from Colaiste na Toirbhirte where they responded to several important works by female artists from the Crawford's collection.
They then went on to create individual zines based on their reactions to the gallery pieces & the discussions they had around common themes such as female empowerment. The result is an electic mix of vibrant, handmade zines which reflect the different approaches of the artists involved.

Valerie Smith, Irish Hospice Foundation, will visit four of our libraries next month to speak about the Think Ahead Planning Pack.
Thinking about the future can be difficult, and you might want to avoid speaking about it with others. On other occasions, you might not have anyone to talk to.
Valerie’s talk will help you understand why this can be hard, and why talking about the future can make things easier for you and your loved ones.
You will leave with practical steps on what you can do to make sure you have your own say through all stages of your life, including how to make an Advance Healthcare Directive with the Irish Hospice Foundation’s Thinking Ahead Planning Pack.
These talks are free to attend.

Bandon Library is delighted to host local artist John Beasley Photography
& his series 'More News From Nowhere' for the month of September.
This collection of photographs is of an image John have been capturing for as long as he can remember. There are images here that were captured twenty years ago and some that were shot this year.
The ever-changing movement of the tides, the changing of the seasons, and the varied and diverse geology of the coast has always been a deep source of inspiration for John. To the sea, all things lead to the sea.
The scale of the prints coupled with the vibrancy of colour give these images an immersive quality that can only be fully appreciated in person!
Call into the branch anytime from Tuesday to Saturday 9.30-5.30.
