Trump to Withhold $18 Billion for New York-Area Transit Projects nytimes.com/2025/10/01/nyreg… via @NYTimes
Harlem has waited 100+ years for the 2nd Ave Subway. Freezing $3.4B isn’t accountability, it’s injustice. We won’t wait another century.

Yesterday I connected with the incredible folks from @nysymcas at the Capitol, and yes, I hopped on the blender bike! The Y serves 1.4M+ NYers, building healthier bodies, stronger minds & communities. Thanks for the smoothies & smiles! #YMCA #HealthyLiving
Commentary: Pay a living wage to the people who make New York livable timesunion.com/opinion/artic… via @TimesUnion
Gov. Hochul’s proposed 2.1% wage increase for human services workers isn't enough—it’s a pay cut with inflation. We need a 7.8% raise in the final budget to keep essential workers serving NY.

Public safety is a top priority. I stand with DA Bragg in ensuring that those who threaten our communities with illegal firearms face consequences. Together, we’ll keep our communities safe.

Replying to @ManhattanDA
“I want to be very clear: if you traffic illegal firearms into Manhattan, or use guns to commit violence against fellow Manhattanites, you will be held accountable. We will not accept this type of conduct, which tears at the fabric of our communities.” – D.A. Bragg.
Extreme Heat Alert!
With the extreme heat we’re experiencing, it’s crucial to stay safe and cool. NYC Emergency Management has activated the Heat Emergency Plan through Wednesday. Cooling centers are open across the city.

On this Juneteenth, as we honor the emancipation and freedoms granted to our ancestors freed from enslavement, we must acknowledge that our struggle continues—it has only just begun. Yesterday, I was privileged to stand with our resilient Harlem community at the Interfaith Commission for Housing Equality’s press conference, advocating for fair and equitable housing. We must unite to celebrate past victories and draw strength from our successes, energizing our efforts to protect those currently facing displacement and injustice.
Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads who fill our lives with love, wisdom, and strength. Your unwavering support and boundless love mean the world to us. Family is everything, whether by blood or by choice, and today we celebrate all the amazing fathers and the irreplaceable support systems in our lives.
I am excited to announce that on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, I will be hosting an Older Adults Resource Fair at Riverbank Park. This event offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with both local and national organizations to discover the benefits and services available to you. I look forward to seeing you there!
I am delighted to see the Inwood Hill Park Nature Center reopen after being closed since Superstorm Sandy in 2012. This center is a true treasure for our community, providing a valuable space to learn about our local environment and history. The new interactive exhibits, featuring our local ecology and the heritage of the native Lenape people, are incredibly exciting additions. I look forward to many more visits and witnessing how this center continues to enrich our community. It is an honor to be part of this wonderful occasion and to support the outstanding work of the Urban Park Rangers.

I had the honor of attending the 1st Annual Emma L. Bowen Celebration of Motherhood at the Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This heartwarming event showcased the dedication and support provided by the center to our community.
A highlight of the afternoon was honoring Alexis Almonte, who, with the unwavering support and advocacy of the center's team, has overcome significant challenges such as homelessness. Today, Alexis proudly works as a flight attendant, travels the world, and has his own apartment. His story is a testament to the power of community, support, and perseverance.
Thank you to Michael Bolus and the entire Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center family for your relentless commitment to empowering our community. Your work makes a profound difference in the lives of so many.

This past Friday, I had the incredible honor of visiting Community Health Academy of the Heights (CHAH) for two amazing reasons. First, I presented the school with a $100,000 check to support their continued excellence in education. Second, I had the privilege of presenting Yvonne Stennett with the Hon. Herman "Denny" Farrell, Jr. Award from the NYSABPRLA 53rd Annual Legislative Conference's Annual Community Awards Ceremony for her unwavering dedication to our community.
CHAH has an impressive 95% graduation rate, thanks to their commitment to supporting students, teachers, and administrators. The holistic approach at CHAH, a reflection of Yvonne Stennett's "it takes a village" vision and her vision of community and family, includes vital wrap-around services like housing support, a food pantry, vision testing, tele-mental health services, and a workforce development center. CHAH is consistently ranked among NYC’s top public schools, thanks to the dedication of Principal David Falciani and his incredible team. Their mission to develop civically engaged, responsible, global citizens truly sets them apart.
During my visit, I learned that CHAH had just concluded their annual ALS walk, recognizing the inspiring Chris Pendergast. I was invited to join the walk next year, and I look forward to it!
I am looking forward to continued collaboration and empowerment of our incredible community!

I am thrilled to have presented PS4, the Duke Ellington School, with a check for $100,000. My love for this school began in my first year as an Assembly Member, and the dedication of the staff, parents, and students continues to amaze me. Principal Adam Stevens and his team are truly committed to their students and the surrounding community, providing everything from educational support to a family pantry.
My team and I have had the privilege of organizing our annual school supply giveaway and fresh food distributions almost every year since I took office. I am confident that this funding will help PS4 continue to serve and uplift our community.
Thank you, PS4, for welcoming me into your family. I look forward to our continued collaboration and to witnessing the incredible impact you make.
Additionally, it was a pleasure to join Principal Stevens, the dedicated staff, and wonderful parents for a Coffee with the Principal Day. Thank you for having me!

As a veteran, Memorial Day holds a special place in my heart. It is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness ensure the freedoms we enjoy today. Let us take a moment to reflect on their legacy, express our gratitude, and support the families they left behind.
As the summer heat begins to creep in, we want to ensure that New Yorkers have access to the necessary resources to stay protected from rising temperatures. Through the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, HEAP is offering a Cooling Assistance benefit to help you purchase a cooling device. Please check out the link in my bio for more information on how to apply and see if you qualify.
