As covered by The Times , the Reindustrialisation Research Group has urged the Chancellor to expand the BICS scheme to all manufacturing firms.
52 Labour MPs have backed our call.
Delivering this at the Budget would be a first step towards reindustrialisation.
Today marks the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week. My family knows the pain of losing a child, and we stand with everyone who carries that grief. On Monday, I'll be leading a debate in the Commons to raise awareness and call for the support that every family deserves.
Really good news that the Prime Minister has announced a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
Too many voters feel like politics does not speak for them.
I'm fully behind the PM on this as a strong supporter of Proportional Representation.
Westminster needs fair elections.
“Today I am announcing a new National Commission on Electoral Reform. I invite all the political parties to be part of its work. We will contest the next election with a manifesto commitment to change the electoral system”

Great to be joined by Health Secretary Yvette Cooper at Monday’s National Maternity Taskforce meeting. Her commitment to meaningful change was clear.
As Chair of the Baby Loss APPG, I’m working to ensure the voices of families and charities are at the heart of this work.

Great piece in here by @LizziCollinge & @AndyMacNaeMP on the need for a National Commission on Electoral Reform. #Labour4PR 🌹
I’m particularly proud of this edition – @elliottengage was away for the week so I edited this one, and on the week of the PM’s resignation, writing the cover story last minute too, it was a biggie! Think the cover works really well, thanks to our illustrator @TracyWorrall for delivering it brilliantly as ever. Pick it up in Parliament today for topical features, interviews and op-eds, lots Burnham-focused but other interesting stuff too 🗞️

A statement from our chair @AndyMacNaeMP on the publication of the final report from Baroness Amos and the National Maternity and Neonatal Investigation.
Today's report into maternity care at Nottingham University Hospitals lays bare a profound failure, and behind every figure is a family who should never have had to suffer. As Chair of the APPG on Baby Loss, my full statement is below. My thoughts are with every family affected.

Alongside key charities and organisations, Andy MacNae MP and I recently wrote to Meta highlighting the distress they are causing bereaved parents through their advertising practices.
This is about dignity, and those navigating baby loss should not be re-traumatised through Meta's algorithms.

Today's interest rate cut is the sixth since the election, the fastest pace of cuts in 17 years and good news for families with mortgages and businesses with loans.
There's more to do on the cost of living, that's why we're cutting £150 off energy bills and freezing rail fares.

Medical misogyny has cast a long shadow over maternity care.
Too many women dismissed, their pain minimised.
We're building an NHS that listens to women - getting to the root of problems, investing in services and renewing our Women's Health Strategy.

Pleased to have attended the launch of Time to Act: Stopping Group B Strep Infections in Newborn Babies event, hosted by @AndyMacNaeMP & Baroness Ritchie.
GBS infections remain a serious concern for newborns & their families. We must strengthen prevention, reporting & screening.

Our Policy and Public Affairs Officer, Honey Alma, and London Team Manager, Ronnie Stockton, recently met with @AndyMacNaeMP to discuss the intersections between our work and maternity services, particularly the APPG on Baby Loss and Maternity and the upcoming maternity investigation.
We’re calling for this investigation to acknowledge and address the gaps in care that allow domestic abuse to slip through the cracks, causing harm to both parents and babies.
Maternity staff play a vital role in identifying and supporting parents experiencing abuse. We’d like to see better training, resources, and services to help them respond safely and effectively.
A huge thank you to Andy MacNae for taking the time to meet with us and for his commitment to improving outcomes for parents and babies.

🧵 Attending the APPG on Baby Loss and Maternity event today. @AndyMacNaeMP opens by reflecting on the recent baby loss debate recognising bereavement care as "a crucial part of the equation" & yet with funding pressures "one of the things we see squeezed is bereavement support".
