ethereum core developers paused the glamsterdam upgrade on the hoodi test network on october 22 and kept the hold on november 6. the upgrade raises the gas limit to 200m, but it also charges separately for new stored data. in some contracts, this change can make a call fail, or it can mark a task as permanently failed with no retry. openzeppelin flagged possible issues with gas sponsors and crosschain actions. alchemy limits larger transactions on its test service. so app compatibility now sets the timetable for more l1 capacity.

binance confirmed that affected binance france accounts close on december 31. deposits are blocked, but withdrawals still work. a reported customer notice adds monthly fees from november 29 of 0.025% of the balance or 10 usdc, whichever is more. so small accounts have a strong reason to leave early. eu rules let users move to authorized rivals, such as coinbase luxembourg. binance gives a 25% fee discount for paying in bnb and needs bnb for vip tiers. if this trading moves away, those reasons to hold bnb get weaker. the size of that effect is not known.

okx founder star xu says okx has already made its controls stricter on funds that come from exchange mexc. he warns that these funds can be frozen for review and that the related accounts can be investigated. fincen's us order against mexc is not in force yet. so receiving venues now set the risk for users who move funds out. mx gets its use from mexc fee discounts and launch events.

recent btc buyers changed what they send to exchanges in one day. on november 5, 2,559 btc of their inflows were held at a loss. on november 6, that figure was 32,695 btc, about 89% of their inflows, cryptoquant data shows. this adds btc that can be sold, but completed sales are not confirmed. buyers are weak too: spot selling led on binance and coinbase.

fincen's order against exchange mexc is not in force yet, but other services already screen mexc funds. bitget wallet reportedly confirmed that its card top-ups reject funds from mexc. users also report reviews and delayed credits at binance, okx and gate, but the scope is unclear. the order also covers mexc funds held long in self-custody wallets. so the source of the funds still matters after withdrawal. mx gives fee discounts on mexc, so less mexc trading weakens demand for it.

a former fbi agent, patrick steven yaroch, pleaded guilty on november 5 to wire fraud and money laundering, the us justice department says. he used credentials from 35 fbi investigations to make about 100 unauthorized transfers, worth about $2.47m. the wallets included ones held by investigation subjects, nation-state actors and an fbi operational wallet. so the weak point was control of investigators' access, not the blockchains. in july, agents moved about $925k from his kraken and slush accounts to government wallets.

core scientific, one of the largest us bitcoin miners, said on november 5 that it expects to stop mining btc in q4 2026. from 2027 it will only host other firms' computers. hosting already gave 92.5% of its q3 revenue, $215.4m of $232.9m, and all of it came from one client, coreweave. so its growth now depends on new buildings and new financing, not on btc.

keplr, a multichain wallet used on cosmos chains, paused google and apple logins after reports of unauthorized transactions from accounts made that way. keplr uses web3auth, an outside service, to create private keys for google-login accounts. web3auth separately confirmed a security incident and paused its login service. keplr's early review says recovery-phrase and hardware-wallet accounts are not affected. the size of the losses is not disclosed.

u.s. spot bitcoin etfs lost a net $1.28b in the week of november 2-6. this was their largest weekly outflow since late june, and it turned their 2026 net flow negative at -$828m, despite $6.36b of q3 inflows. blackrock's ibit made up 94.4% of the outflow. fidelity's fbtc took in $93.1m. each redemption cuts fund btc holdings. cash redemptions need btc sales, but in-kind ones only move btc to large traders. the data does not show the mix.

jtx, jito's solana trading terminal, added tokenized stocks from backpack and ondo on november 5. since october 23, jtx sends 80% of its trading-fee revenue to buy back and burn jto, jito's token. so equity trades now add to that jto buying. but us users are excluded, and the best quotes run mostly in us market hours. jtx shows no equity fee rate yet, so the size of the extra jto demand is not known.
