Proud to be part of team #Africa2Moon currently shortlisted for launch to the lunar south pole 🚀🌙
For the 1st time in the history of life on Earth humanity is preparing to expand beyond home, with permanent bases planned for the Moon this decade. @developspacesa is over the Moon to partner with China's International Lunar Research Station. Watch this space 🚀 #Africa2Moon
Busy day in space yesterday: SpaceX Starship orbital test and soft splashdown, Boeing Starliner delivers crew finally to ISS, and China's Chang'e 6 en route back to Earth with samples from the lunar farside (after taking this selfie).
Congratulations 🇨🇳 Chang'e 6 lands successfully on far side of Moon.
Mission to collect & return samples from lunar surface to Earth. Named after Chinese Moon goddess Chang'e, China's second lunar sample return mission, second ever landing on farside.
Watch: the China National Space Administration just released images captured by the #Chang'e 6 lander's descent camera, documenting the landing process of Chang'e 6 on the far side of the moon.
Private lander Odysseus by @Int_Machines' aiming to land near Moon's south pole tonight around midnight. Success would be historic: No private spacecraft has ever soft-landed on Moon & no American vehicle has done so since Apollo 17 in 1972.

Congratulations, Japan! Fifth country to land a craft on the surface of the Moon, after US, Russia, China & India.
Japan's lunar lander successfully touched down just after midnight on Saturday; a technical solar power issue may limit mission goals.

Here's my conversation with Max Tegmark (@tegmark), his 3rd time on the podcast. We discuss AGI, AI safety, nuclear war & the open letter (he co-led) calling for the halting of further development of large AI systems for 6 months. This was fascinating! youtube.com/watch?v=VcVfceTs…
