To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office:
The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
“I think it is a bit unusual that we have a leader with such power, which the president of the United States has, who happens to be such an inadequate leader for the world.” Former Irish President Mary Robinson reflects on the importance of rule of law and her view of the Trump administration's conduct.
“This became a place where the impossible suddenly became possible because of dialogue.” 40 years after Ronald Reagan met Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik to negotiate solutions to the world’s greatest problems, I spoke with Iceland’s President @HallaTomas about lessons for today.
If Ethel Kennedy were alive today to see how President Trump is changing the face of Washington, “she’d be there with a pickaxe at the Kennedy Center taking [Trump’s] name off the wall,” her daughter Kerry tells me. “She was a woman of action.”
“Bobby’s endorsement of Trump is anathema to everything that we’ve ever been taught as a family,” Kerry Kennedy tells me of her brother, RFK Jr.
“I don’t understand how Bobby said to himself that this is ok to do… [But] so many families… are in this position of having a split… We need to continue to see the dignity in one another.”
In her new book, Kerry Kennedy traces the life of her mother, Ethel Kennedy, including the trauma of RFK’s assassination and a lifetime of activism.
“All of us… continue to experience PTSD,” from her father’s killing, Kerry tells me. But her parents and uncle also taught her the value of public service: they “believed that one person could make a difference and that each of us should try.”

Trump’s criticism of Zelensky raises fresh questions about the future security of Europe. @amanpour explores how European leaders are working to prevent Russia from escalating its aggression against Ukraine amid fear across the continent
"Head-scratching... & disconcerting, to say the least." President Trump's decisions over Ukraine are alarming allies. Former Pentagon official @EvelynNFarkas says the diesel deal w/Russia is "giving Putin a gift... That is completely disconnected to trying to get a peace deal."

"One of the biggest issues with AI... is that these platforms and models are collecting exponentially more data than social media was able to. Therefore, they can more cheaply, more quickly and more easily target people." Tech whistle-blowers Brittany Kaiser and Frances Haugen tell me why we should be very worried about AI and our data: "It is very easy for our foreign adversaries to spread disinformation at an exponential rate more than ever before."
“It was a shock” to see Palestinian legislative elections postponed yet again, says Palestinian politician @SSinijlawi. “What was postponed is not a simple election. It is an opportunity for the young generation to peacefully participate in the political life.
"We keep convincing them that the ballot will change their lives, and then the door keeps closing again and again. So it's making the argument for democratic change very difficult.”
