Here's a challenge for Americans: Define capitalism. Define socialism. Explain the difference without repeating capitalist propaganda or mainstream media talking points. Before defending or condemning an economic system, understand what it actually is. #ClassConsciousness

The Economist inadvertently says something interesting about the difference between capitalist and socialist democracy. “India’s political class should consider itself lucky. In next-door China, the Communist Party has to do something much more difficult than winning elections. China’s social contract requires the state to consistently raise living standards, the quality of life and national power in exchange for which citizens keep their noses out of politics. All Indian politicians have to do is to feign interest in their constituents once every five years. Yet instead of accepting this sweetheart deal, Mr Modi’s government is doubling down by suppressing protests that are attempting to enforce it.” Having studied the Chinese political system and having travelled to China many times, I can say with some confidence that “citizens keeping their noses out of politics” is very much not an ambition of the CPC. There are extensive, growing networks of grassroots democracy. What is true, however, is that the government is expected to deliver for the needs of the people. Meanwhile, the right to elect people who “feign interest in their constituents” is not actually that important to the hundreds of millions of Indians who live in desperate poverty. I am in New Delhi right now. It’s in many ways a delightful city, but the levels of poverty and inequality – along with the general dysfunction, political repression and religious/caste prejudice – are heartbreaking. It may be tough to swallow, but the fact is that China is substantially more democratic than the capitalist countries. economist.com/asia/2026/10/1…

In order for Capitalism to 'work'. You need the 99.99996% to accept the 0.00004% of billionaires will be in charge of everything, forever, and will rip you off as much as they like. And that's democracy and all you could possibly hope for.

There’s this old joke: “Wanna know why there’s never a coup in the US? Because there’s no US embassy in Washington.”
47 years ago, the Americans were preparing for another coup in Iran... 🗓️ November 4, 1979 47 years ago, Iranian students took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, exposing what became known as The Den of Espionage. The Iranian people had not forgotten 1953. We remembered Operation Ajax, the CIA-backed coup against Mohammad Mosaddegh, the decades of dictatorship that followed, and the plundering of our national wealth by America and Britain. We remembered. And this time, we stood our ground. The seizure of the American Embassy by Iranian students on 13 Aban was more than an occupation. It became a defining moment in Iran's confrontation with American power and the beginning of a long series of setbacks for Washington. Last time, the West rewrote our story. Hollywood gave us "Argo". Their media turned us into villains while burying the history behind November 4. But the world is waking up. Their propaganda monopoly is cracking. Their censorship is failing. 47 years later, we still remember. NOT AGAIN!

Breaking: China Confirms Deployment of Dongfeng-61 with the PLA Rocket Force Chinese state media outlet CCTV News confirmed today that the new Dongfeng-61 (DF-61) land-based intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) has been fielded by the PLA Rocket Force and has entered regular, routine training. The missile made its public debut during the military parade on September 3, 2025, as part of the first contingent of nuclear-capable missiles. This official confirmation—coming just 14 months after its public unveiling—indicates a high level of operational maturity, allowing the system to move directly into combat-ready status. Key specifications include: Range: Approximately 14,000–18,000 kilometers, enabling it to strike targets anywhere on the globe from Chinese territory (including the entire United States). Speed: Capable of reaching Mach 20–27 during the terminal phase. It utilizes a "waverider" design to perform "skip-glide" maneuvers and trajectory changes, making it extremely difficult for existing missile defense systems to intercept. Payload: Capable of carrying 6–12 independently targetable nuclear warheads (MIRVs), each with a yield of 150–500 kilotons of TNT, allowing for simultaneous strikes against multiple targets. Accuracy: Employs a composite guidance system—integrating BeiDou satellite navigation, inertial navigation, and stellar (star-tracking) navigation—achieving a circular error probable (CEP) of approximately 100 meters, sufficient to destroy point targets such as hardened underground fortifications. Deployment: The system utilizes a 16-wheeled specialized mobile launch vehicle, enabling rapid relocation across mountainous or forested terrain. It possesses "autonomous launch" (launch-without-external-support) capabilities, offering significantly improved survivability and a more robust second-strike nuclear retaliatory capacity compared to its predecessors. Furthermore, recent media reports revealed footage of the PLA Rocket Force’s "Shenwei Missile Battalion" employing the advanced HQ-19 missile system to intercept hypersonic and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). The system is reportedly capable of striking a target moving at over Mach 10 at an altitude of 10,000 meters. With an operational interception altitude of approximately 150–200 kilometers—and some analyses suggesting a reach exceeding 450 kilometers—it can engage targets both within and beyond the atmosphere. The interceptor reaches terminal speeds of Mach 7–10, with a relative engagement velocity of up to Mach 17, making it highly effective against hypersonic glide vehicles. It is paired with the 610A phased-array radar, which boasts a detection range of roughly 4,000 kilometers and the ability to track multiple targets simultaneously. Real-world training exercises demonstrate that when faced with incoming hypersonic threats—characterized by terminal-phase maneuvering and the use of decoys—the unit can complete the entire engagement cycle—from aerial situation assessment and trajectory prediction to fire-control locking and precise interception—within just two minutes. The unit’s ability to seize the fleeting interception window against hypersonic weapons confirms that the Chinese military’s early-warning/tracking algorithms and fire-control calculation systems are fully matured for actual combat scenarios. In addition, China possesses the HQ-20—the world’s first air-defense missile to operationalize meter-wave guidance technology, making it the most potent anti-stealth air-defense system globally—as well as the potentially fielded, even more advanced HQ-29. It is fair to say that China’s missile and defensive interception technologies have surpassed those of the U.S. military and now lead the world. For nations like the U.S. and Japan—should they attempt to intervene in China’s affairs—this represents a nightmare; after all, they have struggled to even counter the missiles fielded by Iran.

Sovereign Media's photojournalist Ibrahim Abul-Essad was outside the Supreme Court in London, on 5 November 2026. It was discovered that the proscription of P*lestine Action was deemed unlawful by the UK High Court, finding that it breached both Article 10 and Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The appeal centres on the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. Throughout the morning into the early afternoon crowds gathered voicing their concerns over the proscription, which many legal organisations and human rights organisations such as Amnesty International find to be an arbitrary use of powers that harm the freedom and rights belonging to UK citizens. Over 4,000 people have been arrested attempting to defy the ban which was introduced by former Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and later upheld by Shabana Mahmoud. In addition to this, over 250 Jews, including direct decedents of holocaust survivors, as well as 12 other Jewish organisations collectively signed a statement urging the Labour government to lift the proscription.

Brussels has frozen national social media age verification laws in Austria and Flanders for 12 months. You might assume it finally noticed the privacy and free speech problem. It didn’t. The Commission wants its own EU KIDS Act to go first, and that law is far bigger. Every user on social media, app stores, online games and AI chatbots would have to prove their age through a government-approved system. Anyone whose age “cannot be established” would have their account disabled. Adults who refuse to verify would be treated as children. The Commission’s own age verification app was hacked in under two minutes. The fight in Brussels was never about whether to check your ID. It’s about who gets to do it. reclaimthenet.org/eu-kids-ac…

Why did I write a book about China’s war on poverty? Why spend years documenting how a nation of 1.4 billion lifted 600 million people out of destitution in a single generation? Because I love the people of the United States of America. Those who insist we must hate China, who treat every Chinese success as a threat and every statistic as propaganda, are not protecting us. They are trying to manipulate the American people with hate, fear, and deceptions. They are feeding our fears and counting on our ignorance. The USA is stronger through learning about the strengths and successes of other nations. We can ONLY improve ourselves by understanding the other 200 nations of people in our shared world. I live here in China. So, I have chosen to share real-world knowledge about China’s strengths and successes. That’s patriotism. That’s hoping we can learn from China’s will to help its people. I love the people of China, yes. But I also love the people of my country, the United States of America. Their government made poverty elimination a central national priority and then did the hard, unglamorous work of building roads, relocating villages, expanding education, and delivering basic healthcare to places that had almost nothing. China’s successes are not just measurable; they are visible. I, me, I’ve personally visited hundreds of Chinese villages, and travelled to every single province of China, and every Special Autonomous Region. China’s success in this regard isn’t propaganda; it’s very real. Pretending this did not happen, or that it only happened because of some sinister design, does not make America safer or stronger. It just makes us less informed. It makes us ignorant. China’s people are not our enemies. They’re our global brothers and sisters. They want stable lives, better futures for their kids, and peaceful relations with the outside world, including the United States. Telling the truth about what China has actually achieved in reducing poverty is patriotic. It is the most patriotic thing I can do: refuse to let my fellow Americans be manipulated by fear and half-truths, and insist we see the world as it is rather than as someone else needs us to see it. That is why I wrote the book. To help us learn about the real world and what is happening in our closest peer.

Together for greater progress in poverty reduction Eradicating poverty has long been a shared aspiration of humanity and remains one of the most formidable challenges to global development. Learning from poverty reduction efforts, building international consensus, deepening practical multilateral cooperation, and advancing the global fight against poverty are shared missions and responsibilities of the international community. As the world's largest developing country, China struggled with poverty for a long time. To tackle this global challenge, China rolled out the poverty alleviation campaign unmatched in human history in scale, intensity, and number of people benefiting, achieving a remarkable milestone in human development. After eight years of sustained effort, China lifted nearly 100 million rural residents out of absolute poverty, achieving the poverty reduction target of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule. Since the launch of reform and opening-up more than four decades ago, China has lifted over 800 million people out of poverty, accounting for more than 70 percent of the global total over the same period. Xiong'an New Area advances high-quality development alongside effective governance Above ground, expansive green spaces blend seamlessly with modern architecture. Beneath the surface, a network spanning more than 100 kilometers links underground utility corridors that deliver water, electricity, gas, heating, and communications. In the cloud, a digital city is taking shape alongside the physical one, while the Xiong'an Urban Computing Center keeps watch over the entire city. A "city of the future" is steadily taking shape in the Xiong'an New Area, north China's Hebei province. Rejecting sprawling, haphazard urban expansion, Xiong'an has adopted a different approach, with planning preceding construction, underground infrastructure built before above-ground development, and trees planted before the city takes shape. Modern governance has been integrated into every stage of urban development. Read full: en.people.cn/n3/2026/1029/c9…

From Abu Dhabi to Hainan: An Emirati's dream to see the 'sister port' Arriving at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, a modern container terminal comes into view. Tens of thousands of containers are neatly stacked on the terminal, forming vast, colorful arrays. Not far offshore, ocean-going cargo ships shuttle back and forth, sailing in an orderly manner to all corners of the world. This terminal is a flagship Belt and Road project jointly operated by COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited and Abu Dhabi Port Authority. Amidst this bustling yet orderly scene, Reem Mohammed Alhosani has been diligently working for nearly three years. During an interview with People's Daily Online, the Emirati local introduced that her job duties are accounting, payment processing, and supplier coordination, adding that she was initially attracted to join COSCO SHIPPING by its international work environment. Prior to joining the Chinese company, Alhosani's original impression of China and the Chinese people mostly came from her university studies, where she learned that Chinese people are "disciplined and result-oriented." However, after working closely with her Chinese colleagues day in and day out, her perception underwent a profound shift. According to Alhosani, her Chinese colleagues are not only serious and efficient at work but also consistently sincere and kind. "They gave me guidance and kindness, and they welcomed me with open arms, and made me feel as comfortable as I am, which showed me how valued I was." What Alhosani cherishes even more is the multi-cultural atmosphere. "I enjoy working in multi-cultural environments, because every time I learn new perspectives, and it makes me become more adaptable," she said. In April 2024, with the official launch of the direct shipping route between Yangpu Port in south China's Hainan Province and Khalifa Port, the two "sister ports" across the seas achieved an even closer connection. This has also sparked a yearning in Alhosani's heart. "Many friends around me have described the beauty of China to me, but seeing is believing," Alhosani said with a smile, expressing her hope to visit Hainan one day and travel to more cities in China.

The future is here | Unlock smart book borrowing at Shenzhen Library in Guangdong, South China When technology is applied to cultural environments, the ordinary act of borrowing books breaks free from traditional models and becomes far more efficient and convenient. The North Hall of Shenzhen Library in south China's Guangdong Province stands as a vivid example of China's digital practices in urban public cultural services. Visitors can search the library's collections via on-site smart screens and submit book retrieval requests through a mini-program. The intelligent system fetches books from the underground automated stacks and transports them to the collection outlet via overhead rail trolleys to complete one-stop self-service borrowing. Andrew Smith from the U.S. tried the entire borrowing process on site and got a close-up look at the convenience of smart book lending. Featuring full self-service, unattended operation and fast book retrieval, the once time-consuming and laborious process of searching for and borrowing books has been streamlined by technology into a smooth experience, transforming the daily reading experience for local residents.

Are AI-generated short dramas a waste of computing power? Recently, a set of figures on the share of token consumption by large artificial intelligence (AI) models has drawn considerable public attention in China. According to the figures, short dramas and video generation account for 55 percent of domestic token consumption, e-commerce and marketing 24 percent, and software development only 15 percent. Some have contrasted this with the claim that "58 percent of US tokens go to writing code and enterprise automation," giving rise to the catchy narrative that "China uses computing power to chase entertaining short dramas, while the US uses it to build the future." Set against the current international discourse surrounding China-US competition in AI, the comparison is certainly attention-grabbing. Yet it does not withstand even the most basic fact-checking or scrutiny. The claim that "AI short dramas and video generation account for 55 percent" originated from an industry assessment, which circulates online and is contained in the investor-relations records of a listed company that is itself heavily invested in AI-generated short dramas. It is not a comprehensive calculation based on any authoritative statistical framework. Doubao has also recently clarified that the computing-power figures are "somewhat unreliable" and that, at ByteDance itself, only about 10 percent of the company's total compute is used for training and inference of video-generation models. As for the claim that "58 percent of the US token go to writing code," no authoritative source for the figure can be found at all. Tokens are units used to measure and bill AI model usage, reflecting workload and computing consumption. They are neither a measure of productivity nor an equivalent of GDP, and therefore cannot be used directly to gauge the value of a country's AI industry. Meanwhile, video generation is a computationally intensive use case, while code generation is relatively low in token intensity but highly efficient. Comparing the two simply on the basis of token consumption is therefore methodologically unsound. Read full: en.people.cn/n3/2026/1028/c9…
