In July, we secured the best-ever contract for 32BJ union cleaners on Broadway. Last week, we did the same for the supers, cleaners, and handypersons at 📍New 42 Studios - where the rehearsals happen! When we fight...we WIN!

She’s right. Innovation isn't the question. The question is who carries the cost & who keeps the gains. Before cities put driverless cars on its streets, workers deserve a plan, not a press release. Slow down & get it right!
DC is facing a jobs crisis. Rushing the legalization of autonomous vehicles is irresponsible given the anticipated AI-related job displacement and disruptions that put countless workers at risk.

Cities are right to be concerned with autonomous vehicles. Tech companies do not have our best interests in mind. We need to ensure safety for our residents and if tech wants to gain the trust of cities, it must come to the table. I applaud @Janeese4DC’s actions.

✊✊Union power for the POWER Act!
✊ We’re fighting to put the POWER back into New Yorkers hands! The POWER Act would allow consumers, workers, non-profits and small businesses to directly sue companies for unfair practices, rather than rely on City enforcement alone.

Councilmember @Janeese4DC won the Democratic primary for Mayor because protecting District residents and jobs is her top priority. She knows that rushing to allow Waymo to bring driverless cars into our communities and causing thousands of people in this region to lose their livelihoods is the last thing we need. Delaying this legislation until we know the real impact on jobs is responsible leadership. Lewis George can bring people together as Mayor next year and take the time to find the right policy for DC workers and consumers.

*Shocking* that the same tech bros who showed themselves to be totally out of touch with DC during the election are now whining about this statement from @Janeese4DC. DC workers >>>> robots, every time. It's not that complicated.
The same Silicon Valley tech bros who want to replace gig drivers with Waymos also want to bring us hotels without housekeepers, kitchens without cooks and restaurants without servers, workers without income. Thank you @Janeese4DC for standing with DC's majority over SC elites.

Janeese Lewis George's stance on Waymo is right in line with DC voters. A preview of a new PPP poll proves that DC voters overwhelmingly oppose robot taxis (like Waymo) by a margin of nearly 3-1. Full polling results to be released next week.

When hospitals buy the market, patients pay the price. New York State must act to stop rising healthcare costs. That's why we're supporting the Fair Pricing Act in Albany to make sure every day NYers pay routine prices for routine services, no matter where you receive care.
